On Friday night, veteran SportsCenter anchor Neil Everett aired his final broadcast for ESPN, as he is leaving the network after 23 years. The decision is in part because of downsizing by the network, but it still means saying goodbye to such a familiar face.
Everett started at ESPN in 2000 and became a pivotal part of the network’s Los Angeles SportsCenter in 2009. Everett worked with Stan Verrett out West, and the two ended up as the faces of the late-night SportsCenter show from Los Angeles.

Mets third baseman Eduardo Escobar was traded to the Angels on Friday night in a deal that lands New York pitching prospects Coleman Crow and Landon Marceaux.
The 34-year-old Escobar has been playing on a part-time basis after an early season slump and the promotion of top prospect Brett Baty. Since Baty’s promotion though, Escobar is hitting .323 in 67 plate appearances.
The trade was unexpected for the Mets, especially for star shortstop Francisco Lindor, who was interviewed mid-game against the Phillies on Apple TV+ and discussed the impending departure of his teammate.

“I want to make that clear on the front end that I don’t want to rip a guy who had a gambling problem, who is a convicted felon for having a gambling problem,” Le Batard began.
Well, then he began to rip a guy who had a gambling problem.

Players have more freedom of movement than ever before. Add in the money they can make, and it’s not a mystery why coaches are tampering and players are jumping around.
However, the UAB head coach made it clear he will name names if he has to when it comes to tampering.
