Cole Carrigg has a rocket launcher where his arm is supposed to be and can literally do it all. The former San Diego State utility player put on a show during Wednesday’s MLB Draft Combine.

Carrigg, who has logged appearances at every single position on the diamond except first base and left field, is a great hitter from both sides of the plate. He averaged .388 at the dish in 2022 and .313 in 2023.

The Pittsburgh Pirates became the latest Major League Baseball team to unveil their “city connect” alternate uniforms.
And they are, well, not great. Just like so many other Nike-derived city connect jerseys.
The Pirates uniform set at least has some connection to historic colors used by the organization. Predominantly in jerseys from the 1970’s, Willie Stargell era.
But instead of simply referencing that color scheme, Nike decided to shorten Pittsburgh to “PGH” and add a weird design to the top part of the jersey.

With the 2023 NBA draft finally upon us, the basketball world eagerly awaits the coronation of presumed No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama as the sport’s next rising superstar. Hours before the Spurs are expected to select him with the top pick, that fervor took a turn for the absurd in the case of ESPN broadcaster Marty Smith.

Former LSU men’s basketball coach Will Wade received a 10-game suspension and a two-year show cause until 2025 for his involvement in the program’s reported recruiting violations, according to the Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP).
In addition to Wade’s suspension, his show-cause mandate prohibits him from off-campus recruiting during any applicable April or summer evaluation, reduces his official visits by four over the next two academic years and bans recruiting discussions and unofficial visits between Sept. 1 and Oct. 15 of this year and next year.

Phil Mickelson decided to set aside all the drama and provide some golf tips on Twitter to help the average golfer with their chipping. He hilariously went with a casual look, wearing some workout shorts and flip-flops.

As the Padres continue to sputter, they’re going to need every break to go their way if they’re going to get back in the NL West race. But Manny Machado’s attempt to take an extra base in Wednesday night’s game against the Giants went poorly. 
San Diego lost the first two games in San Francisco in walk-off fashion, so runs have been at a premium in the series. With the game still scoreless in the top of the fourth on Wednesday, Machado thought he saw an opportunity to put himself 90 feet from home with some aggressive baserunning. 
He thought wrong.

In recent years, Yankees fans have been arguing with other baseball fans over the back of their jerseys.
The issue revolves around the fact that the Yankees are one of only two teams — along with the Dodgers — that don’t have names on the back of their jerseys, and for some reason this is bothering baseball fans (especially younger ones) across the league.
