As soon as rumors began to swirl that the Minnesota Vikings may cut Dalvin Cook, the running back was immediately linked to the Miami Dolphins. Now, two weeks after being released, the 27-year-old is adding more fuel to the Dolphins talk by sharing his interest in joining Miami this season.
Speaking on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Thursday, Cook described the Dolphins as a “perfect fit” from a scheme perspective.
“As a running back, you look for a certain scheme, and I know the scheme that I’m good in,” Cook said, “That’s outside zone, and that’s what the Miami Dolphins run.

Week 13 is already approaching! Time flies when you are having fun.
Three rookies make the waiver wire list again this week. One is a catcher who has become the DH in Houston and could also grab first base eligibility as the season rolls on. Another is a top pitching prospect for Cleveland who will likely stick around a while with news of Triston McKenzie being shut down again for a minimum of six weeks. And finally, it’s hard not to see the flashy strikeout upside for Bryan Woo, despite the rough ERA stats on the surface.
A couple of veterans make the list today, too. Let’s get to it.
It was not the most dramatic of nights, but there were winners and losers from the 2023 NBA Draft, and that starts with a good night for the Spurs.
The Bucks are planning to sign Gonzaga star Drew Timme to an Exhibit 10 deal as an undrafted free agent, according to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Milwaukee is bringing in the former first-team All-American on an Exhibit 10 deal, which is a minimum contract that can be converted to a two-way deal prior to the start of the season.
Timme, who was one of the nation’s best big men this past season (and in all four of his years at Gonzaga), went undrafted on Thursday night as the NBA continues to pivot away from traditional big men.
Yes, the Reds are back in action Friday, but I have a feeling the win streak stops here. They should be outmatched by the Braves, who have a better starter in AJ Smith-Shawver and a lineup that has scored more runs per game than any other team in June (6.78). The Braves also have the lowest bullpen ERA in June (2.04), and it would be hard to bet against them. There isn’t much value on the Braves ML (-155), but it’s even money if they cover the run line. It’s hard not to bet on the Reds, but I am backing the Braves tonight.
It was a great draft for the Spurs (duh), a long night for Cam Whitmore, and Gradey Dick’s outrageous look made him both a winner AND a loser.
Get ready: There are just 40 days until the MLB trade deadline, and there are still several teams whose futures look uncertain. Buy? Sell? Neither? Here’s a look at some of the clubs on the bubble.
Cleveland Guardians
On one hand, Cleveland could easily win the AL Central, just as it did last year. While the team has not been in first place since early April, it currently sits just one game back of Minnesota, which is not exactly an unstoppable juggernaut.
On the other hand … this division is so weak that winning it doesn’t necessarily mean very much.
Welcome to 32 teams in 32 days. To get us through the offseason, we’ll be taking a closer look at every team in the league, in order of projected 2023 win totals. Up next: the Giants.
The Giants had a successful first season with Brian Daboll, who quickly turned them into a playoff team en route to winning Coach of the Year.
But the Giants will no longer catch teams by surprise after winning 10 games last season, including a wild-card victory vs. the Vikings.
The Titans had a miserable finish to last season.
Kansas City Royals reliever Aroldis Chapman has been back to looking like the pitcher he was in the beginning of his career – a guy who can throw really hard and strike out lots of batters out in the process.
That continued Thursday night when he came into the eighth inning of a one-run game and struck out all three Tampa Bay Rays batters that he faced.
