Hello darkness, my old friend.
Aaron Rodgers is still all about that ayahuasca life. Now the Jets’ quarterback is continuing his uncanny spiral into Brett Favre-dom, by signing up to hawk experimental medicine at a conference.
Rodgers will be joining scientific luminaries Jaden Smith (son of Will Smith) and former Texas governor Rick Perry to extol the virtues of ayahuasca at the “Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies,” in Colorado.

Despite missing the cut at the U.S. Open, both Max Homa and Justin Thomas still had plenty of fun during Sunday’s final round.
Max Homa has a knack for humor and having fun on social media.
Although he did not have much fun at the 123rd U.S. Open, he still made the most of his disappointing performance with Justin Thomas during Sunday’s final round.
Welcome to the 13th installment of a weekly mailbag that I will be writing about the world of sports media (and anything else you want to chime in on). Please email me any questions you have to Jimmy.Traina@si.com or send them via Twitter.
The big news of the week in my world was the announcement that Sal Licata, who joins me every week on SI Media With Jimmy Traina for our weekly Traina Thoughts segment, will now be cohosting WFAN’s 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. show beginning July 24 after working the stations overnight show the past few years. That news led to some questions.
The NFL appears to have a serious issue with players and gun laws.
The issue is back in the news after Patriots corner Jack Jones was arrested while allegedly in possession of two guns while going through TSA.
Jones now faces charges of possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of the airport, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a large-capacity feeding device, according to SI.com.
The Patriots CB could face years in prison if convicted.
In the past year, Aaron Rodgers has been more open about his personal beliefs and has shared his interested in nonconventional medicine—including psychedelic drugs. The new Jets quarterback is apparently looking to spread the word and show support for the use of such drugs with an assortment of other celebrities.

WHO TALKS ABOUT THEIR OWN AFFAIR LIKE THIS?!
It was going to be near-impossible for any sports story compete in absurdity this week. After all, we’re gripped watching whether rescuers can find a submersible lost near the Titanic. A submersible we learned was jury-rigged together, without safety measures, controlled with a PS3 controller, and guided by text message.
**GLASS BREAKS**
BAH GAWD … THAT’S STEPHEN F.
Victor Wembanyama’s hands are apparently too big to throw a baseball judging by his horrible first pitch at the Yankees game.
Theres a lot that French international/future first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft Victor Wembanyama can do. He’s 7’4 with a nearly eight foot wingspan, so he can pretty much grab anything on any shelf he chooses to. He can shoot it with the best in the league, taking stepback threes only Stephen Curry has the audacity to take.
Exiled former Timberwolves general manager David Kahn, 14 years removed from passing on Steph Curry twice, is now the president of Paris Basketball in the LNB Pro B basketball league.
While his focus is now on turning France into a basketball hotbed, many remember Kahn for his blunders stateside, highlighted by his decision to not draft Curry, a four-time NBA champion who is one of the best shooters the league has ever seen back in 2009.
Instead of drafting Curry, Kahn took point guard Ricky Rubio and shooting guard Jonny Flynn.
No, Jonathan Kuminga is not 7’2” now.
Whenever you hire a former athlete with no media experience there are going to be some growing pains. When it comes to ESPN, Kendrick Perkins, and fact checking — those growing pains are quite literal.

To be clear: Jonathan Kuminga is not 7’2. He didn’t magically grow SEVEN INCHES in the offseason.
Good morning, I’m Dan Gartland. It’s the official start of summer, so let’s take a quick spin around MLB.

With the mathematical midpoint of the MLB season fast approaching, the division races are shaping up to be good ones.
