The Polar Bear’s gonna need plenty of ice. New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso did not finish Wednesday’s Game 2 against the Atlanta Braves. Alonso took a mean 97 mph fastball to the left arm from Braves pitcher Charlie Morton.
The 28-year-old hit the deck but quickly got up. Alonso thought about walking to first but stopped to speak before manager Buck Showalter before exiting the game.
Morton’s fastball made direct contact with Pete Alonso’s left wrist, despite him wearing gear on the arm. The ball snuck in between Alonso’s glove and arm pad.

Nikola Jokic is the best player in basketball. Should he win a championship during these Finals, there should be a debate no further.
He’s Tim Duncan with a three-point shot, Magic Johnson’s vision for the court, and LeBron James’ passing skills.
Though unlike previous players to hold the title of the best, Jokic is hardly a rockstar. He’s not a top 10 most famous player in the NBA today. If it weren’t for his unusual body mass, sports fans wouldn’t recognize his face in public.

You’ve probably heard by now that Name, Image and Likeness has changed college athletics forever. Nearly two years into its existence, that is not a secret.
Money has always played a role in college sports, especially football, but the NCAA’s decision to allow student-athletes to be compensated while in school has inflated that notion. And the lack of regulation around NIL has created a system that is simply unsustainable.
There are a lot of questions and concerns surrounding the role that money plays in “amateur” athletics.

However, university president Bobby Robbins cleared the air on Wednesday when speaking to media, noting the school’s ties with in-state rival and fellow Pac-12 member Arizona State.
“We [the two schools] don’t have to do the same thing,” Robbins said, via ESPN’s Pete Thamel. “But [ASU] President [Michael] Crow and I are very, very tight. I think it’d be unlikely that we’d be split up.
