The idea that Texas was going to steamroll Georgia and continue to run roughshod over the SEC in its first year in the league all felt too easy.
It’s why I picked Georgia to win this game.
But it felt like the entire college football world expected to see the Longhorns roll over Georgia.
And that played perfectly into Kirby Smart’s hands.
No one plays the disrespect card in college football better than Kirby.
When you have the most talented team, and you can convince them everyone thinks they stink, you’ve got a hell of a motivational ploy.

Thankfully for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team’s first drive on the defensive side of the ball wasn’t indicative of how things would end up for them in London on Sunday.
Rookie quarterback Drake Maye and the New England Patriots offense marched right down the field against the Jags and looked nothing like a 1-5 football team. Both players traded the lead on multiple occasions.
The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t save their season on Sunday morning. But they definitely saved somebody’s job for now.
The team is flying home after a two-game stretch in London in which the club lost the opener last week, but on Sunday salvaged the trip with a victory over the New England Patriots.
“We just needed to feel like what it feels like winning again,” coach Doug Pederson said.
The 96-yard score, plus a two-point conversion, put the Jaguars up 22-10 entering halftime.
Thomas added another big catch minutes later to set up Tank Bigsby’s rush TD and put the Jaguars up 14-10.
