There is one college softball coach who understands what it takes to do what Patty Gasso is doing at Oklahoma.
Her Sooners have won a record 48 games in a row (and counting). Last weekend, they eclipsed the previous Division I record of 47, set by Arizona under Hall of Fame coach Mike Candrea in the late 1990s. Now retired, Candrea has been fielding calls about the old record lately, praising Gasso and Oklahoma: He knows, after all, how difficult it is to win like this. And he also knows how difficult it is to do what Gasso is trying to do next.

Paige Spiranac reminded her followers that thinking they could hang with PGA Tour players would sadly be mistaken.
Paige Spiranac isn’t afraid to speak her mind. It’s one of the biggest parts of her brand. One of her latest takes shows she knows golf and the reality of playing professionally. She tweeted a graphic referencing a tweet from Lou Stagner, a golf stat extraordinaire, about Tiger Wood’s handicap in his prime.
In 2008, Woods had a +9.4 handicap, and with tour conditions, it was around +11 or +12, which is mind-boggling.
The Stanley Cup Finals begin this Saturday, here’s what you need to know about watching the Panthers vs. Golden Knights.

The six-time major champion continues to feud with and trash Brandel Chamblee, the golf channel analyst who disdains LIV Golf.

The Philadelphia Phillies broadcast team was none too pleased with the way Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor threw the ball to first for the second out of a double play.
In the top of the 5th inning with no outs and first baseman Kody Clemens on first, Third baseman Edmundo Sosa lined one straight to Lindor.
Probably assuming there was no way he was going to get a hold of it, Clemens was well on his way to second when Lindor snagged it. The Mets shortstop then flipped a casual throw that bounced its way to first. This left Phils’ announcers Tom McCarthy and Ben Davis big mad.
A report that Shannon Sharpe negotiated a buyout to leave FS1 and Undisputed prompted him to like disparaging tweets about his co-host Skip Bayless.
Specifically, Sharpe liked a post likening Bayless to “Weird Al” Yankovic and himself to James Brown. He also favored a tweet accusing Bayless of growing jealous of his supposed stardom:
Suffice to say the split is not amicable, at least in the mind of Sharpe.
Tensions between the two were evident on-air, with both taking personal shots at each other over the past six months.
The NBA Finals are here, and in a matchup few prognosticated before the season, the Nuggets will take on the Heat. Denver finished as the top seed in the West, while Miami squeaked into the postseason as an eight-seed via the play-in tournament. Both, though, have been impressive during the playoffs, toppling conference stalwarts and Hall of Fame talents en route to the championship round.
Before the series tips off, the Sports Illustrated NBA staff makes their predictions for the most important matchups, players, and who will win.
Matchup to watch
Chris Herring: It’s Joker and Bam.
Emma Raducanu has split from her coach Sebastian Sachs after less than six months working together.
On the rooftop of a swanky hotel on the West Side of Manhattan, it’s clear things are about to change for UCF. A spirited group of alumni gathered to meet with coaches of the football and men’s and women’s basketball teams, and AD Terry Mohajir. The Knights are just about to finish their life cycle in the American Athletic conference and start anew in the Big 12. It’s fitting that they’ve taken their show on the road in the city commissioner Brett Yormark calls home.
The final conference matchup against rival USF will come this weekend at the AAC baseball tournament.
Kirk Herbstreit’s parents divorced when he was very young, so his friends quickly became a crucial part of his support system. That’s why he is so confused by Ja Morant’s recent string of off-court incidents.
Herbstreit, one of the most prominent voices in football, spent Wednesday afternoon speaking to many of the top recruits in the Class of 2024 at the On3 NIL Elite Series in Nashville. Although the event focused on Name, Image and Likeness, the 53-year-old spoke more holistically.
