In his press conference on Tuesday at the Memorial Tournament, host Jack Nicklaus made an interesting statement regarding elevated events.
The Memorial tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club, hosted by Jack Nicklaus, is one of the new eight elevated PGA Tour events. His event could be one that goes to a limited field with no cut in the future.
Nicklaus previously made it known he was not a fan of the no-cuts events. But his tone seems to have changed during his press conference Tuesday.

After a hectic offseason, Arizona and coach Tommy Lloyd are rolling the dice on perhaps the most polarizing player in the transfer portal in North Carolina transfer Caleb Love. The 6’4″ guard who averaged nearly 17 points per game for the Tar Heels announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Tuesday, nearly two weeks after decommitting from Michigan due to reported issues with transfer credits academically.
Spencer Rattler is constantly scrutinized for his attitude. Constantly.
The 22-year-old quarterback is entering his final year of college football at South Carolina this fall and he still can’t shake the narratives that have swirled around him since high school. Shane Beamer wants that to come to an end.
Rattler, the No. 1-ranked quarterback in the Class of 2019, has had a rollercoaster career. He began at Oklahoma, redshirted as a freshman, and led the Sooners to a Big-12 Championship and Cotton Bowl win as the starter in year two.
Rickie Fowler has finally climbed back inside the Top 50 on the Official World Golf Rankings.
Rickie Fowler has qualified for the Open Championship and will play at Royal Liverpool in July. His impressive 67 on Sunday at the Charles Schwab Challenge pushed Fowler into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in two years.
The Top 50 qualify to play in the Open Championship. This season Fowler has five top 10’s, 11 top 25’s and has made 14-of-16 cuts.
Amid the recent injury to star outfielder Cedric Mullins, the Orioles have signed an established veteran to fill the gap during his absence.
Baltimore announced Tuesday that the organization signed Aaron Hicks to a major league contract following his departure from the Yankees. In a corresponding roster move, Mullins landed on the 10-day IL due to a right groin strain.
Hicks has spent the past eight seasons in New York, but his tenure as a Yankee came to an end on May 20, when he was designated for assignment.

The second-seeded Medvedev just seems happy that clay season is over after losing to a qualifier
Daniil Medvedev arrived at Paris looking to build off his performance in the Italian Open, and show that he could finally make a deep run at the French Open.
Instead he’ll have to look for the positives as a qualifier sent him packing in the first round.
Thiago Seyboth Wild stunned the tennis world on Tuesday, bouncing the second-seeded Medvedev out of the first round, winning 7-6(5), 6-7(6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the second round.
The DeAndre Hopkins-Arizona Cardinals saga finally ended last week. The team released the star receiver after months of speculation and attempts to trade him. Several teams are interested and Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson hopes his team is one of them.
Watson and Hopkins teamed up in Houston for three seasons from 2017-19. Those were arguably the best three seasons in Hopkins’ career, as he earned First Team All-Pro honors each year.
Hopkins caught 315 passes for over 4,100 yards and 31 touchdowns across those three seasons.
Former North Carolina point guard Caleb Love has committed to Arizona for the upcoming season, he announced on social media.
Love played three seasons for the Tar Heels, averaging 14.6 points in 101 games and helping lead the team to the national championship game in 2022. Despite having eligibility remaining, Love chose to transfer instead of playing at North Carolina for his senior season.
Earlier in the offseason, Love initially chose to transfer to Michigan and play for Juwan Howard in Ann Arbor.
In 2016, when Joe Lacob’s Warriors had just won a championship and were finishing up a 73-win regular season, the Golden State owner told The New York Times:
“We’re light-years ahead of probably every other team in structure, in planning, in how we’re going to go about things. We’re going to be a handful for the rest of the NBA to deal with for a long time.”
The quote was always going to come back someday to poke him in the nose. The only surprise is that it took six years.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban entered the theater room at the Hilton San Destin on Tuesday, looking ready for a discussion. After being told what to do over the past four days by his wife, Saban was ready to get back to his own agenda.
Not surprising, the topic of players becoming paid athletes by the schools was brought up again. There was a time years ago that Nick Saban asked a group of reporters in a room if this is what we want college football to become, I don’t think many thought we’d be this far in the weeds.
