Brock Purdy hasn’t thrown a football since the NFC Championship Game in January and while he continues recovering from surgery to repair a ligament in his throwing elbow, there’s been much speculation about Trey Lance or possibly Sam Darnold snatching the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback job.
Stop.
That’s not Plan A.
The 49ers plan and, indeed, expect Purdy to be their starting quarterback when they open the season at the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 10. That’s the target they’re aiming for.

Former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles will remain in a Tuscaloosa jail after circuit court judge Daniel Pruet denied him bail in a bond hearing at the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse Wednesday morning.
Miles, 21, has been in jail on a capital murder charge since Jan. 15 after the shooting death of Jamea Jonae Harris, 23, of Birmingham. She was shot to death allegedly by Miles’ friend Michael Lynn Davis, 20, on the Alabama Strip near Alabama’s campus.

Yankees reliever Michael King ran into issues with his PitchCom device during Tuesday’s extra-innings win over the Orioles, and his frustrations turned into a fun, albeit temporary, moment for one fan in the stands.
King’s PitchCom, a device that allows pitchers and catchers to agree on a pitch without hand signals, began to malfunction in the ninth inning while down 5–4 to Baltimore. Rather than try and work through the issues with the game on the line, King ditched the device and tried to toss it back to his team’s dugout.
