In the wake of Virginia’s disastrous offensive performance in the men’s NCAA Tournament’s First Four on Tuesday night in Dayton, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is calling for Cavaliers coach Tony Bennett to be fired.
No, not because Bennett isn’t a good coach. Bennett won a national championship five years ago and is a future Hall of Famer. But instead, because Virginia basketball is boring.

“It’s not funny. I take no joy in saying this. But if it were me, I’d fire him,” Smith said. “Strictly because of being boring.

ESPN’s Dick Vitale has endured three bouts with cancer over the past two years, keeping the legendary college basketball broadcaster off television for much of that stretch. In December, Vitale announced that he is cancer-free and intends to make another comeback.
He continues to rest his vocal cords, which recently required surgery due to affects of the radiation treatments he received for cancer.
“It will take more time before I get the strength back in my voice,” Vitale told USA TODAY via text.

A buffalo named Jack built a March Madness bracket and if you beat it you could win free wings
The NCAA Tournament has arrived which means our upcoming weekends have a lot of plans for us all to sit around and watch basketball. What a wonderful time of the year.
It is highly probable that like millions of people around the world you have chosen to participate in March Madness by way of filling out a bracket. Every year every person somehow believes that their bracket could be the one, but we all get busted and make our peace with it.

Amid the steady rise of betting in the NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff issued a warning about the dark side of sports gambling on Wednesday.
Bickerstaff, who is in his fourth season with the Cavaliers, noted that sports betting brings “added pressure” to the game and makes his job—and that of everyone on the court—more difficult.
“It brings added pressure,” Bickerstaff said in a Wednesday press conference before the Cavaliers—Heat game.

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto was one of the most prized acquisitions of the offseason across all of Major League Baseball.
A number of teams lined up for the services of the 25-year-old righty, who logged a 1.82 ERA in seven seasons in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball league. Ultimately, the Dodgers added Yamamoto on a 12-year, $325 million contract to add firepower to the top of the rotation.
But Yamamoto’s first major league start could not have gone much worse Thursday in Seoul, South Korea.

Don’t expect to see Deion Sanders flying across the country to visit recruits in their homes.
Visiting recruits at their homes is a very common tactic that has existed pretty much since the start of college football. It gives coaches the opportunity to learn about a player’s family and show his interest by dedicating a lot of time on the road.
Having a major coach visit your house is something recruits dream about as young athletes. It’s the sign a high school player is finally viewed as a legit prospect.

The matchup is set between Tennessee and Saint Peter’s in the NCAA Tournament, but the biggest story you will hear on Thursday night from Charlotte surrounds the Zeigler family showdown that will take place on the court.
When Zakai Zeigler and Armoni Ziegler hit the court this evening, memories of backyard shooting, growing up together and the pickup battles between the pair will be put on the backburner, for at least two hours.

People weren’t overly impressed with President Joe Biden dropping his NCAA Tournament brackets.
The President posted brackets for the men’s and women’s tournaments, and has UConn going the distance for the men and South Carolina winning it for the women.
Not bad picks. Both are solid and safe. However, people weren’t interested in an in-depth breakdown. They had…..other plans.
What do I often say? There are few things the internet does better than coming together to roast someone. Even the President, who has access to nukes, isn’t immune.
