Hailey Van Lith thinks there’s one thing to blame for people not liking the LSU women’s basketball team:
A racial double standard.
The Tigers play Iowa Monday in the Elite 8, and they’re at the center of the women’s college basketball world following a lengthy Washington Post article of Kim Mulkey and a Los Angeles Times piece referring to LSU as “dirty debutantes.” The latter was eventually removed from the article.

What happens on the court – when the competitive fire starts burning – is likely to change both of their attitudes, but on Sunday morning neither player was willing to throw any gas on the embers. 
“I don’t think people realize it’s not personal,” Reese said. “I think people just take it like we hate each other.

Chadwick Tromp saw an opportunity, and he took it.
The 29-year-old catcher was called up to the Atlanta Braves on Saturday after Sean Murphy hit the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique muscle. And immediately after the Braves selected Tromp’s contract, he changed his jersey number from 48 to 45.

Whether purposeful or accidental, it’s a hilarious move by Chadwick. He might be the backup catcher, but he’s going to sell more jerseys than anyone else on the team.

The article originally called LSU’s players “dirty debutantes,” but the paper has since edited that line out of their story, saying it didn’t “meet Times editorial standards.
