By taking Scoot Henderson third in the NBA draft, the Trail Blazers ramped up speculation that they could trade Damian Lillard, as they both play point guard. However, Henderson said the two could play together successfully.
After the draft, Henderson made an argument that Portland should instead keep Lillard, as it would be great both on and off the court.
“I think Dame should stay,” Henderson said. “If we combine our games, it will be over. We kind of compliment each other’s game, we are both fun to watch. Ticket sales will go up, all the good stuff would happen if he stayed.

Mackenzie Hughes shot 76 in Thursday’s opening round of the Travelers Championship, and it may be the most-impressive 76 of all time.
Hughes withdrew from the tournament after the first round, but it had nothing to do with the fact that he found himself more than a dozen shots off the lead.
The Canadian jumped on Twitter after it was announced that he had withdrawn from the event and explained the kidney stone journey he currently finds himself on.
Hughes shared that shortly after taking off on a flight from Los Angeles following last week’s U.S. Open, Hughes felt pain in his lower back.

This great video from F1 shows the challenges of racing in the rain
Have you ever wondered what it is like navigating a Formula 1 car through rainy and wet conditions at speeds around 200 mph?
While our lawyers have advised us we cannot put you into the cockpit of an F1 car dear reader, thanks to the fine people at F1 we can at least give you a glimpse. At various points during the Canadian Grand Prix last weekend, including qualifying, drivers were forced to navigate tricky rainy and wet conditions.

I have no idea if Gradey Dick will be any good in the NBA. The Toronto Raptors, who selected him 13th in last night’s Draft, certainly hope so.
What I do know, is that Dick will be must watch, immediately.
Does that mean I anticipate the 19-year-old will soon be raining threes up north? Nope. Though that’s a possibility, Dick’s all but certain to be a must watch/follow off the court.
Case in point, the ugly, yet, viral suit Dick choose to wear on the biggest night of his life. Dick, who is from Kansas and played one season for the Jayhawks, wore a red suit with matching red shoes.

It’s been a tough season for the Phillies. After their miraculous run to the World Series last year, they’ve struggled out of the gate this year while the Braves have built a healthy lead in the division. Thursday afternoon’s game against Atlanta, therefore, was an important one, representing a golden opportunity for Philadelphia to make up ground in the division race.
Through the first nine innings, things were going fine for the Phillies. They hadn’t scored a run but their pitchers hadn’t allowed one, either. So the game went to extra innings.

The end of the 2023 NBA Finals in June also marked the end of the career of Udonis Haslem. Undrafted out of Florida. Haslem joined the Heat in 2003, with whom he would spend the entirety of his 20-year career. Along the way, Haslem contributed to three championships, became the franchise’s leader in rebounds, and became the defining image of Heat culture.
Before the playoffs, Sports Illustrated asked Dwyane Wade—who entered the NBA with Haslem—to reflect on their 20-year friendship and Haslem’s career. Here’s Wade, in his own words, on the legacy of UD.

The Mets’ 74th game captured why, after almost half a season, the most expensive team in baseball gets only a 14.2% chance of reaching the playoffs, according to Baseball Reference. For only the second time in franchise history, the Mets on Wednesday gave up 10 runs (including two unearned runs), walked eight batters and threw two wild pitches in just eight innings in a road loss.
The 10–8 clunker in Houston has as its only comp in scattershot pitching a 19–10 defeat in Montreal by the 2004 Mets, losers of 91 games. These Mets are on pace to lose 88.
