Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will be out beyond the next “several weeks” after suffering a right calf strain on July 28, coach Zac Taylor told reporters on Wednesday.
“The timeline [Burrow’s return] is several weeks from when I said several weeks,” Taylor said.
Burrow injured his right calf during one of the team’s training camp practice. The Cincinnati signal caller was scrambling out of the pocket on a play towards the end of the practice when he pulled up lame on the non-contact injury.

Maybe all the Eric Bieniemy smoke is … more than just smoke. I guess it depends on how you view former pupil LeSean McCoy.
‘Shady’ joined Colin Cowherd Wednesday to discuss his time with Bieniemy in 2019, when he rode out the twilight of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs.
And the now-Fox Sports analyst didn’t exactly provide a rosy picture.
“The thing that alarmed me the most was the relationship with the players,” McCoy said “You have to change with the times.

Florida State football hopes to build on the momentum from its 10-win season as it begins its 2023 campaign. The Seminoles were largely irrelevant from 2016 through 2021 and are excited about the possibility of turning the corner after ending last year with a Cheez-It Bowl win over Oklahoma as the No. 11-ranked team in the final AP college football Poll.
Head coach Mike Norvell is in his fourth season. It is time to deliver.

Northwestern football staffers, including offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian, were seen wearing shirts that seemed to honor former coach Pat Fitzgerald during practice Wednesday, and they received backlash from the college football world online for the action. Fitzgerald was fired after the school launched an investigation into hazing within the football program.
Interim coach David Braun was asked about the shirts and said his job is to support his players and staff members.
“It’s not my business to censor anyone’s free speech,” he said, according to ESPN.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan spoke to the media Wednesday, providing a clear timeline for the framework deal with the Saudi PIF.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan spoke to the media Wednesday ahead of this weekend’s FedEx St. Jude’s Championship, the start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. It is the first time he has spoken publicly to the media since taking his medical leave following the breaking news of the PGA Tour’s landmark deal with the Saudi’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

With the dust settled on the latest round of conference realignment musical chairs (at least, for now), there are four Pac-12 schools remaining without a clear home come 2024: Stanford, Cal, Oregon State and Washington State. As Cougars school president Kirk Schulz described it in an interview on Wednesday with ESPN’s Pete Thamel: “It’s like a breakup; it’s awkward. No one wants to sit there for too long.”
Following USC and UCLA’s defection for the Big Ten last year, Oregon and Washington have followed suit to join the conference.

Jay Monahan took a leave of absence from his post as PGA Tour commissioner exactly one week after announcing the Tour’s surprising plans to merge with the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF). The timing of the “medical situation” was tough to ignore, but now Monahan has revealed it was anxiety that led to his health scare.
Speaking ahead of this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, the first FedEx Cup Playoff event, Monahan explained that negotiations for the merger with the Saudi PIF, LIV Golf, and DP World Tour took a toll on him both mentally and physically.
