What people have been clamoring for over decades, but especially in recent years, could really be happening within two years.
The end of the NCAA may be near. Ding-Dong, the wicked witch could be dead.

Courtrooms will be stormed. Lawyers will be heroes. The NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis may burn, or at least feature a large For Lease sign possibly.
They’ll play the 10,000 Maniacs’ 1992 smash “Candy Everybody Wants” over and over again. “Give ’em what they want.

The Boston Celtics entered their matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves as the only undefeated team in the NBA on Monday night. Boston had been blowing the doors off everyone during the 5-0 start, producing the league’s best offense. The Timberwolves just so happened to own the league’s best defense with Rudy Gobert in the middle.
Gobert is a future Hall of Fame inductee and one of the definitive defensive players of his generation. Yes, he’s something of a punchline in these days, in no small part because Minnesota traded a half-decade of draft picks to get him.

One of my favorite moments of Week 9 was watching Antonio Pierce shake Mark Davis’s hand on the field while the stadium speakers blasted Eazy-E’s Real Mutha(bleeping) Gs after the Raiders crushed the Giants.
Pierce is an old-school, no-nonsense type of coach, but you can tell the interim coach knows how to relate to his players, and his presence paved the way for the Raiders to deliver their best performance of the season a few days after Davis fired Josh McDaniels.
Speaking of Real Gs, Texans quarterback C.J.

Welcome to the Power Rankings. For a moment, I considered having an AI generated introduction for this week just to see if Google had been spying on my keystrokes for long enough to actually make itself useful. Alas, the technological monolith suggested I open with: “hello and welcome to my haunted house.”
I think us hacks are safe from the technological revolution for at least a little bit longer.
I loved this past week of NFL action. With a lot of heavy hitters on bye, we saw the epitome of the league’s middle class throwing some absolute haymakers.

Last week, we saw something different in this space. We watched Bryce Young outplay C.J. Stroud, giving the Panthers their first win of the season.
Unfortunately for Carolina, things went back to normal Sunday. Meanwhile, in Houston, Stroud showed why he’s the long-term answer for the Texans in a phenomenal 39–37 win over the Buccaneers.
Elsewhere, Clayton Tune got his first NFL start and had a brutal afternoon in Cleveland, while Will Levis had a solid outing against the Steelers on Thursday night.
Let’s look at how 11 rookies fared and which direction they’re trending.

The Jets had their three-game winning streak come to an ugly end Monday night when they lost at home to the Chargers, 27-6.
Zach Wilson and the offense never found the end zone, which didn’t impress Troy Aikman at all, as he lit into him during the team’s final drive and again during the postgame show.

LSU and Angel Reese didn’t start the basketball season in elite form.
The Tigers, who won the national title last season, have a superteam led by Reese and former Louisville star Hailey Van Lith that was expected to roll through women’s college basketball. Turns out they couldn’t even roll through game one.
The top-ranked Tigers and Reese, who rocked a crown prior to the game, lost to 20th Colorado 92-78 Monday night, and not a single player on the roster hit the 20-point mark.
Colorado had two players score at least 24 and a third chipped in 19.

18-year-old Ali Mulhall has won 300+ events since she started playing, yet she has a selfless approach to the game.
Ali Mulhall is an 18-year-old amateur golfer on a mission.
She has quite the resume already, with 342 wins since starting golf at age four.
“Once you’ve got one win, the thirst for more wins just keeps coming,” Mulhall said in an exclusive interview with Playing Through. “Every time I practice out there, it’s a competition.

Peyton Manning and Eli Manning were back with another Manningcast episode during Monday night’s ugly Chargers–Jets game and they didn’t disappoint, as they had a bunch fun during what was a very boring game.
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawerence was one of three guests and the Manning brothers got everyone laughing with a wild photoshop image of Lawrence if he had Peyton Manning’s hair (and also his forehead and neck).
This is something that we will never be able to unsee.

Offense was essentially optional during the Los Angeles Chargers – New York Jets game on Monday night. The Jets outgained the Chargers 270-191 in the total yards category, but it was Los Angeles who left New Jersey with a commanding 27-6 win. Jets’ wide receiver Garrett Wilson looked and sounded a bit defeated after the contest, understandably so, especially when talking about the offensive effort.
Anytime your team puts up just six points, frustration is going to set in, but the Jets’ offensive struggles is nothing new.
