The NFL Week 2 schedule is upon us, with a pair of Monday nighters on the docket. However, neither of those tilts make our list for the top five games of the week.
Overall, it’s tough not to highlight a pair of AFC matchups between four teams that made the playoffs last season in the Chiefs and Jaguars, and the Ravens and Bengals. In each case, the AFC championship game participants are attempting to avoid 0–2.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are coming off a 40–0 crushing of the Giants, and now get the Zach Wilson-led Jets on a short week. It’s a brutal spot for Gang Green.

The saddest story in the NFL could have a happy ending.
Tarik Cohen isn’t a stranger to adversity. His entire road to the NFL was a lesson in overcoming odds, and now he’s doing it again. After missing the last two seasons due to injury, the 28-year-old is making one last run at truly realizing his dream after it was announced earlier this week that Cohen would be joining the Panthers on their practice squad.
It’s easy to forget that not long ago Cohen was one of the most electric multi-phase player in the NFL.
Cam Heyward has missed just two games since 2016.

How many prime time games will the jets lose
— Isles Mets Jets fan (@bigjimfan) September 12, 2023
Maybe one. Possibly none. The Jets are still going to be in most games thanks to their stellar defense. My guess is they will be fighting for a playoff spot most of the season, which makes them intriguing. They also play in the top television market.
Alabama is off to a 1-1 start to the season after a thorough second half defeat at the hands of Texas last Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
The Longhorns proved to be the tougher, better and more explosive team in the 34–24 victory over the Crimson Tide, and Alabama coach Nick Saban has heard his critics loud and clear following the loss.
In fact, he agrees with much of the criticism.
“I talk to the players a lot about internal standard versus external noise,” Saban began. “I think that we didn’t play great. So you know, people get upset that we get criticized.
Few expected both Colorado and Duke to be unbeaten heading into the season’s third week, but here we are.
Saturday’s matchup between No. 18 Colorado and Colorado State already was going to draw plenty of attention due to the early success of the Buffaloes and the high profile of new coach Deion Sanders.
But CSU coach Jay Norvell is adding some sizzle to the intrastate rivalry by taking a swipe at Coach Prime’s public persona. On his weekly radio show, Norvell shared some remarks he made during interviews with ESPN in which he highlighted a difference between him and Sanders.
“I sat down with ESPN today,” Norvell said Wednesday night, per Sports Illustrated’s Fan Nation.

Christy Gardner followed a different path to business success than many athletes. A retired Army Sergeant who served with the United States Army Military Police in Asia, she used her life experience to create multiple non-profit organizations that serve the communities she is a part of.
While New York’s heart sank after Aaron Rodgers’ injury, it’s important to note how much the team has improved since last season. And that includes Zach Wilson.

The rivalry between Mercedes and Red Bull shows no sign of slowing down
Max Verstappen set a new standard in Formula 1 at the Italian Grand Prix with his tenth straight victory. That result put the Red Bull driver atop the record books, and drew praise from around the sporting world.
However, Red Bull’s biggest rivals on the track were rather muted in their reaction, in particular Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff.
