Halloween may have passed, but Tuesday night’s men’s basketball game between Nevada and Sacramento State still had some spooky unwelcome visitors.
Late in the second half, several bats descended upon the court, forcing a suspension of play. The bats flew right near the playing surface, far to close for comfort for players and coaches. Sacramento State’s Alex Kovatchev visibly recoiled when one of the bats flew by him as he prepared to inbound the ball. That’s when play was halted.
The Bears are favored by 3.5 at home vs. the Panthers for this week’s Thursday Night Football. As I am writing this article, no player props have been released for Chicago’s side of the game as we wait for news as to whether quarterback Justin Fields and running back Khalil Herbert will be active for Thursday’s tilt. That doesn’t stop us from locking in some early values for the Panthers, though, at SI Sportsbook.
Let’s have some fun.

Remember the opening night of the NBA season?
I can forgive you if [checks calendar] 15 days ago feels like a lifetime at this point. On Oct. 24, the Lakers opened their season against the Nuggets, and LeBron James played only 29 minutes. After the game, James—somewhat begrudgingly—admitted that was the team’s plan for him in his 21st year, to keep his minutes lower with an eye toward the postseason.
Here’s what LeBron’s minutes totals have been in the six games since then: 35, 39 (including overtime), 33, 42 (overtime again), 35 and 37.
With quarterback Daniel Jones done for the season, the Giants are reportedly making a move to beef up their depth at the position.
New York is signing quarterback Matt Barkley to its active roster from its practice squad, according to a Wednesday morning report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Barkley, 33, has not played in the NFL since appearing in five games for the Bills in 2020. Since then, he has spent time rostered by the Titans, Panthers, Falcons, Buffalo and the Giants.
Travis Kelce might be with Taylor Swift, but Jason is one of the sexiest men alive.
Travis Kelce might be getting all the tabloid headlines when it comes to his love life, but it’s Jason Kelce who is being featured in People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” issue looking like the beefcake dad out of a Hallmark movie.

It’s really nice to see a beef lad get celebrated like this. The photo is also spot-on too.
It’s fair to say that Father Time is catching up with Al Michaels. The legendary broadcaster turns 79-years-old later this month, but beyond the simple fact that Father Time is undefeated, Michaels hasn’t exactly been his normal, charismatic self in the booth as the ‘Thursday Night Football’ play-by-play man this season.
Everyone slows down as they approach the age of 80, but not everyone approaching 80 is paid millions of dollars to call NFL games on Amazon Prime.
Mac Jones can’t seem to get out of his own way this season. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer shed light on how the Patriots QB has frustrated those in Foxboro.
George Washington’s leading scorer in its season-opening win over Stonehill was someone who hadn’t played a competitive basketball game in over two years.
Garrett Johnson, a redshirt freshman forward, scored 21 points for the Revolutionaries on 8-of-10 shooting (5-of-7 from three) and also collected nine rebounds in the 89–44 victory. It was a great collegiate debut, especially considering the circumstances.
Johnson began his career at Princeton, where he redshirted during the 2021–22 season. Last year, he withdrew from school after a rare benign tumor was discovered in his hip.
