Michigan just can’t stop taking hits amid a massive sign stealing scandal.
The Wolverines and Jim Harbaugh are currently facing allegations of running an incredibly massive and complex sign stealing scandal that spanned the past couple years, and the believed pointman is currently-suspended assistant Connor Stalions.
Stalions is accused of buying tickets and transferring them around so he could send people to games to film opponents’ sidelines to steal signs. An unnamed former DIII coach told ESPN he received money to participate in the alleged cheating scheme.

The University of Houston paid homage to the city’s former NFL team, the Oilers, by sporting a similar uniform donned the “Luv Ya Blues” earlier this season.
However, the NFL is trying to put a stop to this alternate uniform after the league sent a cease-and-desist letter to the university this month, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Joseph Duarte.
This news comes one day after the Titans, who were formerly the Oilers, wore the throwback uniforms on Sunday. The Cougars wore the “Luv Ya Blues” back on Sept. 2 in their home opener.

Should be an exciting week ahead, with the trade deadline at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday and the season hitting its midpoint next weekend. So here’s what we’re taking away from Week 8 …
The Eagles are the only one-loss team left in the NFL—and they’ve earned their way to 7–1. In other words, they took the Commanders’ best shot and found a way to swing back harder.
“That’s expected when you come off a season like what we came off,” coach Nick Sirianni told me as he drove home Sunday night. “That’s probably how Kansas City feels each week. That’s a good thing.

Before we get to this week’s mailbag, let’s talk about the biggest surprise of this week-old NBA season:
The Nuggets?
What’s that? Denver? The reigning NBA champion? A team that brought back its starting five? A unit with a two-time MVP (Nikola Jokić), a soon-to-be All-Star (Jamal Murray) and three of the best role players—if you want to call Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr. and Kentavius Caldwell-Pope role players—in the NBA today?
Yes, that Denver.

Through Denver’s first three games, Jokić is averaging 26.3 points, 13 rebounds and 7.

Saturday’s Division-III football game between Johns Hopkins and Muhlenberg ended on the weirdest rushing touchdown you’ll ever see.
The Blue Jays and Mules entered the game as the only two undefeated teams left in the Centennial Conference, and it lived up to the billing. Twice Johns Hopkins took a two-touchdown lead and twice Muhlenberg came back to tie it.
In the final minutes, Johns Hopkins marched into Muhlenberg territory and got into position for a game-winning 31-yard field goal attempt. But that’s when things got weird.

The Vikings are the latest team to need their backup QB in 2023 after Kirk Cousins’ injury.
Success in the NFL is often built on two things: Who is healthiest as the season wears on and who has the deepest roster. The NFL is a war of attrition, and 2023’s Week 8 showed that even more than most at one position.
Across the NFL, backup quarterbacks have stepped in and stepped up, leading their teams to victories and playing huge roles for squads in the mix for the postseason.

Texas rolled to a 35-6 win over BYU in its first game of the season without quarterback Quinn Ewers, who is expected to be sidelined for several weeks due to a shoulder injury. And although it was backup Maalik Murphy who got the starting nod Saturday, fans held out hope that five-star freshman Arch Manning would see playing time as well—which didn’t prove to be the case.
After the Longhorns wrapped up the win, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the decision not to play Manning despite the lopsided score.

Eventbrite revealed its blatant, extreme-left political standing recently after prohibiting Riley Gaines from promoting her speaking event about protecting women’s sports at Harvard. Co-founder and chairman of Eventbrite, Kevin Hartz, has managed to post profanity-filled messages to X, formerly Twitter, but Gaines says she has not heard from him after the debacle.
The organization kept Gaines from promoting her event while allowing other parties to list upcoming pro-Hamas rallies.

Week 8 of the NFL showed us that professional football is unpredictable and wild. It also reminded us that a lot of funny things happen over the course of roughly a dozen games.
The Denver Broncos pulled off a shocking upset of the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday, winning 24-9.  Forget the fact that Patrick Mahomes couldn’t crack double-digits against the previously woeful Broncos. This victory ended some pretty significant streaks in the series between these two AFC West rivals.
