The Raiders have named linebackers coach Antonio Pierce as interim head coach after the franchise fired Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler early Wednesday morning.
Pierce, who is in his second season with Las Vegas, will make his debut as head coach against the Giants on Sunday, the team that he won Super Bowl XLII with as a starting linebacker in 2007.
Pierce made the jump to the NFL on McDaniels’s staff last season after spending five years working in various roles under Herm Edwards at Arizona State.

The Rangers are one win away from making franchise history. They will surely want to make sure that they can finish off the resilient Diamondbacks right here and now in Phoenix.
Despite losing Max Scherzer to injury and Adolis García’s incredible Postseason run coming to a premature end in sad fashion, the Texas Rangers just keep on rolling.

Week 9 features a host of new injuries, and the QB position has been especially affected. With four quarterbacks on bye this week, many fantasy managers will need to watch the injury reports and have contingency plans in place for their signal-caller. New quarterback injuries include Matthew Stafford, Desmond Ridder, Kenny Pickett and Tyrod Taylor. Kirk Cousins is unfortunately out for the remainder of the season with an Achilles tear.

An MRI has confirmed the #Vikings’ fears: Four-time Pro Bowl QB Kirk Cousins tore his right Achilles tendon and his 2023 season is over.

The Raiders fired coach Josh McDaniels late Tuesday night, roughly 24 hours after the team played terribly in a 26–14 loss to the Lions.
McDaniels didn’t even last two seasons as the head coach, compiling a 9–16 record on the Las Vegas sideline. He didn’t finish two seasons as Broncos coach either, going 11–17. And he never even started with the Colts after initially accepting that job.
That lack of success led many to question why the Raiders hired McDaniels in the first place.
