When Steve Fisher and his longtime right-hand man Brian Dutcher arrived at San Diego State in 1999, the two tried selling what seemed like an impossible dream to most casual observers: competing for national championships.
At the time, San Diego State was, well, ordinary in the grand scheme of college basketball. It had finished over .500 just once in the last decade, had its last 20-win season in 1985 and had never won an NCAA tournament game.

No one is seriously buying South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley’s overreaction to comments made about her team, especially Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder.
After the Gamecocks’ loss to Iowa, 77-73, in the NCAA women’s Final Four, Staley went off on the postgame podium. She referenced past comments made by Bluder, describing SC’s style of play as a “bar fight.”

Dawn Staley Cries Discrimination (Again)
Staley claimed that Bluder and the media were characterizing the Gamecocks as “thugs” or “monkeys.

Iowa guard Caitlin Clark has had a transcendent NCAA women’s tournament, apparent to all observers.
Now, she has a hallowed record to prove it.
With her 18th point in the national championship against LSU Sunday afternoon, the Hawkeyes superstar passed Hall of Fame Texas Tech guard Sheryl Swoopes to set a new mark for most points in a single NCAA tournament.

US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis is considered one of the best stadiums in the United States. The Vikings call that stadium home and it hosted the Super Bowl in 2018.
But to stay one of the best stadiums in the country, US Bank needs millions of dollars in maintenance and updates. And that money, as of now, doesn’t exist.
The stadium requires $280 million over the next 10 years, with $48 million of that due over the next year alone.

The only thing distracting from the up-and-down pace of the first quarter of Sunday’s national championship game between LSU and Iowa was the sound of the referees’ whistles. By halftime, there was not stealing the spotlight from the white-hot Tigers.
The referees called 12 fouls in the first quarter and 21 in the first half, with several key players getting into early foul trouble. But LSU’s elite shot-making stole the show in Dallas, as the Tigers opened up a 59-42 halftime lead behind a perfect first 20 minutes from guard Jasmine Carson.

In the midst of one of the greatest seasons of all-time, Iowa star Caitlin Clark added another impressive accolade to her résumé less than two minutes into Sunday’s national championship game against LSU.
With another logo three-pointer, Clark, the reigning Naismith Player of the Year, notched her 25th made three of the tournament, breaking the NCAA tournament record for the most in a single tournament. The historic shot also happened to come on Clark’s first attempt of the day, signaling the dynamic guard could be in store for another big performance.

Lamont Butler didn’t just make San Diego State history Saturday night. He might well have made NCAA Tournament history.
Butler’s game-winning, 18-foot jump shot against Florida Atlantic appears to be the first of its kind in a Final Four game. It was a true buzzer beater—one that passed through the net during or after the final horn—and it carried with it win-or-lose stakes. If the shot goes in, the Aztecs survive and advance; if the shot misses, FAU wins and San Diego State’s season is over.

To call the pitch clock’s effect on baseball games revolutionary—just a few games into its existence—would be an understatement. Game times are around a half an hour shorter than they were a year ago, on average. The league clearly created the pitch clock with an eye toward speeding things up, and though we’re still working with a small sample size, it’s feels safe to say that things are progressing right along course.
Perhaps one element of the clock that was not by design? Fan involvement.
