The “brotherhood” that many players referenced before Qatar isn’t ostracizing the 20-year-old, even after the bizarre events of the last few months.
For many of the young men who’ve anchored this ambitious generation of American players through one World Cup cycle and now into another, the U.S. national team has been a refuge as well as a springboard.

Chris Curtis of WEEI-FM in Boston made the regretful statement Wednesday morning.
A Boston sports talk radio host finds himself at the center of controversy after a making a sophomoric and inappropriate attempt at humor Wednesday morning.
Chris Curtis of WEEI-FM made the regretful comment on “The Greg Hill Show” while discussing a proposal to ban mini liquor bottles, also known as nips, in Boston. Unfortunately, the term “nip” also serves as a racial slur against people of Japanese descent.

With five weeks to go until the draft, there is still a lot for Carolina to consider as to how it decides to use its pole position in April.
We’ve got a good mix of draft, free agent and trade stuff in this week’s mailbag. Let’s dive into it …
From Matt Ramas (@matt_ramas): Which QB will the Panthers take at No. 1?
Matt, I don’t know. Very few people do.

Armando Bacot is running it back. North Carolina’s star big man, who helped lead the Tar Heels to a national championship in 2022, announced on Wednesday that he will be returning for a fifth year of eligibility.
As a recent 23-year-old, Bacot knows all of the jokes about his age and got ahead of the memes by calling back to Perry Ellis. Ellis, a running joke within the college basketball world, looked like a full-grown man as a freshman and seemingly never graduated.

You know who’s NOT ready for the MLB season to start next week? New York Mets DH Daniel Vogelbach, who once again demonstrated Wednesday why Rob Manfred needs to dump microphones all over the field.
Vogelbach grounded out sharply in the sixth inning against the Astros, and it looked like it was bound for center field and nice little base knock.
Except, just kidding! The second baseman makes a nifty little backhand and throws the 30-year-old out by a billion feet, which was evidently the last straw for Vogelbach this spring training.

The veteran receiver remains one of the most coveted free agents still left on the market.
The Browns’ first go-around with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. ended in acrimonious fashion.
After a March 2019 trade brought him to Cleveland amid much fanfare, Beckham Jr. and then-Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield struggled to build a rapport. After Beckham Jr.’s father posted a lengthy video on Instagram on Nov. 2, 2021 dissecting Cleveland quarterbacks frequently missing his open son, the Browns waived him.
