A shocking photo of Alex Smith’s leg is a brutal reminder of the injury he suffered during his playing days.
The former Washington, Kansas City and San Francisco quarterback suffered what easily could have been a career ending leg in jurying during his time playing for Washington.
The now-retired passer broke his tibia and fibula, and required multiple operations to stabilize his leg. Against all odds, he eventually returned to the field before ultimately ending his NFL career.
Alex Smith bounced back from a terrible leg injury.

Even as details of the DeAndre Hopkins free agency tour have come to light in recent days, with the first stop scheduled with the Tennessee Titans and next stop with the New England Patriots, it’s becoming increasingly clear there’s a common thread.
And something is a bit amiss.
The thread is Hopkins is in demand among these two teams that are desperately needing wide receiver help. Hopkins is the biggest name receiver available and so the Titans and Patriots are tying to address significant roster voids.
Blaine Gabbert sits in an exclusive spot among NFL backup quarterbacks.
Prior to joining the Chiefs in April to serve as Patrick Mahomes’s backup, Gabbert spent three seasons as Tom Brady’s backup with the Buccaneers. The veteran signal caller was privy to watching greatness in Brady—who won his final Super Bowl in Tampa Bay—and now enters a Kansas City franchise fresh off a Super Bowl LVII victory.

How Arizona Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort pulled off a pair of first-round trades
NFL fans are getting more and more behind-the-scenes access to their favorite teams in the modern social media environment. Organizations are pulling back the curtain on the draft process, starting with the combine and through the draft itself into training camps, as fans get to see how the teams build their boards, make their picks, give their new players the good news, and more.
The latest fascinating look at the draft process comes from the Arizona Cardinals.
It’s still the NFL offseason, but Miami’s Tyreek Hill may need to be checked for a concussion.
The lightning-fast receiver spent his Thursday pumping up those around him, but one comment in particular suggests he’s not thinking clearly.
Tua’s head-scratching comment was in reference to Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa. As Tyreek Hill sees it, Tua’s one of the NFL’s best signal callers and particularly good at dropping dimes. The receiver said as much while stating that his goal this season is to surpass 2,000 receiving yards.
“I feel like I got the right tools around me.

Iga Swiatek is on the cusp of a repeat win in Paris
Top-seeded Iga Swiatek is on the cusp of a repeat victory in Paris, and her third French Open final.
Standing in her way is Karolina Muchova, her frequent practice partner.
Muchova survived a marathon semi-final match against second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka, winning 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 7-5 to advance to her first-ever Grand Slam final. Her previous best performance in a Grand Slam came back in 2021, when she reached the semi-final of the Australian Open before losing to Elise Mertens.
Free agent DeAndre Hopkins is expected to visit the Patriots next week, his second set visit after the Cardinals released him, ESPN’s Ian Rapoport reports.
After an offseason of trade rumors, Arizona couldn’t find a trade partner and chose to cut Hopkins last month instead. The wide receiver spent the last three years with the Cardinals after a seven-year stint with the Texans.
The Patriots interest in Hopkins is notable, mostly because New England’s offensive coordinator is Bill O’Brien, the former Houston head coach.
NCAA Super Regionals begin this weekend and Southern Miss is pulling out all the stops in terms of preparing for battle against Tennessee, including a priest blessing the baseball stadium.
The conversation of who would host the series was made on Tuesday, as both Tennessee and Southern Miss felt they should be the home team. In the end, Southern Miss did enough for the NCAA committee to be chosen as the NCAA Super Regional hosts.
Deion Sanders did not waste any time in utilizing the transfer portal when he was named Colorado‘s football coach in December.
Since his arrival in Boulder, more than 50 Colorado players entered the transfer portal as the Pro Football Hall of Famer looked to bring in the best players to aid in the program’s massive rebuild. But in doing so, Sanders annoyed several people around the college football landscape that include Pittsburgh football coach Pat Narduzzi, who said in May that Sanders was abusing the transfer portal.
