Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is no stranger to giving back to the community, and his latest act directly impacts those who come from his heritage.
Antetokounmpo recently enjoyed a day at the beach with the Nigerian National Surf Team, the team’s social media account shared on Instagram.
“Giannis Antetokounmpo came to visit us a visit today. Thanks for keeping us inspired,” the post read.

Super Bowl LVIII will be simulcast on Nickelodeon on Feb. 11, the NFL and CBS announced Tuesday morning on CBS Mornings. Former Vikings, Seahawks and Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson will provide commentary for the first alternate telecast in Super Bowl history.
“Nickelodeon and CBS are joining forces to produce a slime-filled telecast of Super Bowl LVIII specifically for kids and families,” Burleson said. “I’ll be back in the booth with other Nick stars co-hosting.

We had a lot of chatter over email and Twitter last week about tennis and its relationship with sports gambling.

ESPN intends to promote color commentator Doris Burke to its No. 1 NBA announcing team and hire Doc Rivers as the third member of the booth with play-by-play announcer Mike Breen, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
The move by ESPN made longtime color commentator Mark Jackson expendable. He was laid off by the network, joining his former sidekick Jeff Van Gundy, who was cut from ESPN last month.
Jackson released a statement on Monday night confirming the news.
“This morning, unexpectedly, I was informed that my services were no longer needed at ESPN,” the statement began.

The Padres are one of the most disappointing teams of the 2023 Major League Baseball season and those bad vibes continued Monday night when they lost to the Rockies, 4–3, to fall to 52–55 on the year.
Their stinker of a season was summed up perfectly by a stinker of a decision made by their third base coach, Matt Williams, on a play in the top of the third inning when he sent Juan Soto home on a single to center.
Was Soto able to beat the throw? No, no he wasn’t. He was thrown by a country mile and then comically tried to talk the ump into a blocking-the-plate call.

Formula 1 has reached the August shutdown, but that does not mean the news has stopped as well.
August typically marks the start of the summer “silly season,” when rumors about driver movement for the upcoming season begin to fly. This year’s silly season kicked into gear a bit early with the sacking of Nyck de Vries, as AlphaTauri replaced him with veteran driver Daniel Ricciardo.

Back by popular demand—or force of habit—it’s time for the annual preseason College Football’s Most Intriguing lists. First up, the most intriguing coaches:

This is one of the great chemistry experiments in the history of the sport.

The USWNT completed group play at the Women’s World Cup with a 0–0 draw with Portugal by the skin of their teeth, advancing to the knockout stage to continue their run towards an unprecedented third straight World Cup title.
With that said, the USWNT has not looked sharp through three matches. The 3–0 win over Vietnam should have been much more convincing given the talent deficiencies between the two sides, and the last two draws against the Netherlands and Portugal only further emphasized the notion that the U.S. has not played its best soccer.

Whoever is in charge of writing the copy for push notifications at the Minneapolis Star Tribune is not a fan of Lee Hodges. That, or they had money on J.T. Poston at the 3M Open, because the notification that was sent out to subscribers on Sunday was straight-up ruthless.
Based on screenshots shared by The Shotgun Start, the first push notification that was sent out was fine as it read ‘Lee Hodges completes wire-to-wire victory after 3M Open, winning by seven shots.
