Virginia lacrosse advanced to the Final Four with a win over Georgetown on Saturday. The Hoos took down the Hoyas on a neutral field in Albany and will face the winner of Sunday’s NCAA Lacrosse Tournament game between Johns Hopkins and Notre Dame.

Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray will not play at this year’s French Open, as his name was not on the entry list this weekend, per Reuters.
The 36-year-old British star will use the time off to prepare for the upcoming grass-court season and Wimbledon, his home major tournament that he’s won twice (2013, ’16). This isn’t the first time Murray has skipped the French Open to focus on Wimbledon. He’s only played at Roland Garros once since he made the semifinals in 2017.

Sam LaPorta was drafted No. 34 overall by the Lions last month. The 22-year-old former Iowa tight end joined Detroit as the organization’s second-round pick and couldn’t be more thrilled.
LaPorta, a former three-star recruit, says that he has been labeled “underwhelming” in the past and has been determined to let his play do the talking ever since.

Some fans like to joke that sports outcomes are scripted, especially when the results don’t go their way. One viral image posted on social media recently took that idea a little further than normal.
A fake NBA memo on Twitter purported to reveal the outcomes of the two conference finals series and the NBA Finals. In the phony memo, the Celtics are supposed to defeat the Heat in seven games in the Eastern Conference finals, while the Lakers were to defeat the Nuggets in six games in the Western Conference finals.

Liberty University upset No. 2 UCLA in the 2023 NCAA softball regionals on Saturday, 2-1, ending the Bruins’ season in surprising fashion.
UCLA finished the regular season with a 52-5 record, one of three teams with 50 wins and behind just No. 1 Oklahoma (51-1 in regular season) for the best record in the country. The Bruins are hosting a regional that also includes San Diego State, Liberty and Grand Canyon, but they lost to the Antelopes on Friday, 3-2, and the Flames on Saturday, becoming the first regional host eliminated from this year’s tournament.

There is nothing worse than when an umpire makes the game all about himself, which is exactly what happened in the AAC on Friday. UCF hosted Wichita State in Orlando for the final three-game regular season series of the year.
The Knights took Game 1 as part of a doubleheader on Friday morning but didn’t find the same success in Game 2 later that night. They fell behind 12-7 after giving up four runs in the top of the ninth inning and had three outs to get them all back.
