After falling to the Celtics in a 112–88 Game 7 loss on Sunday, the 76ers were the subject of many jokes on NBA Twitter. But of all the online reactions to the embarrassing defeat, none may have been as ruthless as the one fired off by Philadelphia’s second-round playoff opponent.
The Celtics, behind a record 51-point effort from Jayson Tatum, sent the third-seeded Sixers home in a dominant outing that saw the East’s No. 2 seed lead by as much as 30 points down the stretch.

Jayson Tatum set the NBA record for points in a Game 7 with 51 as his Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers 112-88 to advance to the Eastern Conference finals.
On Sunday, the NBA got a dream scenario. Two classic franchises — the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers — facing each other in a Game 7. During that game, ABC/ESPN cameras showed Barstool founder Dave Portnoy.
Portnoy is an outspoken Boston sports fan, and as such, a big supporter of the Celtics. During one of the Celtics massive runs in which they took a 26- point lead, ABC/ESPN cameras cut to the Boston crowd going bonkers.
And one of the fans they featured was Barstool’s Portnoy.

After getting a late start to the 2023 season, Phillies slugger Bryce Harper appears to be making up for lost time.
That goes for his scorching bat—the two-time MVP has slashed .361/.439/.611 through his first nine games—and his trademark fiery passion for the game. He demonstrated the latter in Philadelphia’s 4-0 loss to the Rockies on Sunday afternoon.
After hurling a scoreless, hitless seventh inning of relief for Colorado, pitcher Jake Bird fixed his eyes on the Phillies’ dugout.
The 76ers had the advantage in the Eastern Conference semifinals, holding a 3-2 lead over the Celtics through five games. But they failed to get the job done.
Jayson Tatum’s hot hand proved too much for Philadelphia’s defense to handle, as Boston’s superstar scored 51 points, breaking Stephen Curry’s record for the most points in a Game 7 in NBA history.
After losing the pivotal Game 6 and falling short in Game 7, the Sixers’ season ended in disappointment yet again. And Twitter was not too forgiving over their collapse against the Celtics on Sunday.
Charles Barkley: Not a radio guy.
In the latest episode of The Steam Room podcast, Barkley revealed he would never listen to sports on the radio. In fact, he thinks it’s “stupid.”
The conversation started when NHL on TNT studio analyst Paul Bissonnette said after retiring from hockey, he got his start in media doing Arizona Coyotes radio.
“I would never listen to any sport on the radio,” Barkley bluntly stated. “I would never turn on the radio and listen to the game. I think that’s the stupidest thing in the world.
If you’re going to bark at Phillies’ Bryce Harper, expect a response.
Colorado Rockies reliever Jake Bird ruffled some feathers after jawing at Bryce Harper in the seventh inning at Coors Field on Sunday.
Bird pestered Harper as he finished the inning, keeping the Rockies’ 4-0 lead strong over the Phillies. Harper retaliated by charging Bird — prompting both teams to clear the benches and keep the two separated in the skirmish.

As it turned out, Stephen Curry held the NBA’s Game 7 scoring record for two whole weeks.
That’s because Celtics wing Jayson Tatum erupted for a historic 51 points during Sunday’s 112-88 win over the 76ers, sending Boston to the Eastern Conference finals and topping the 50 points Curry notched during Game 7 of Golden State’s first-round series win over the Kings.
Tatum was outstanding all game long but took control of the game during the third quarter, during which Boston went on a 28-3 run to turn what was a tight contest into a blowout.
Jayson Tatum posted the highest point total in NBA Game 7 history, outscoring MVP Joel Embiid by 37 points en route to the East finals.
A day after he was struck in the head by a line drive, the Rockies announced that pitcher Ryan Feltner sustained a fractured skull and a concussion but will not need surgery. He was hospitalized overnight and is expected to be released sometime on Sunday, per The Athletic‘s Nick Groke.
Feltner was hit during the second inning of Saturday’s game against the Reds when Nick Castellanos hit a line drive up the middle. Statcast measured the exit velocity of the ball, which struck Feltner on the back of his head, at 92.7 mph.
