Earlier this week I wrote about the significance of soccer great Lionel Messi moving to Miami and taking not only his talents, but his celebrity status to Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami.
I mentioned how not only could Messi help grow soccer’s popularity, but that he could also go the way of Ronda Rousey, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or John Cena in transitioning from their respective sport to Hollywood and pop culture.
I just didn’t know it would happen this fast.

It’s safe to say Lionel Messi won’t be going to Publix anymorepic.twitter.

It’s training camp season, which means NFL fans are always in for a good scuffle or two as guys get after it in pads for the first time in months.
Look no further than the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs, who had star tight end Travis Kelce start a scuffle at practice on Saturday after finding the end zone on a Patrick Mahomes touchdown pass.
Kelce did not take too kindly to the late hit from Jack Cochrane. Cochrane lightly shoved Kelce after the catch, and Kelce wound up and threw a punch at his teammate.

The Bengals are working out two former XFL quarterbacks—Reid Sinnett and Drew Plitt—with Joe Burrow scheduled to miss several weeks due to a calf strain injury he suffered in practice Thursday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Sinnett, who had brief stints with the Buccaneers, Dolphins and Eagles, last played for the XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas. However, the team placed him on injured reserve after breaking his foot.
In one game last season, Sinnett threw for 97 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Alex Pereira lost his middleweight debut.
He is making preparations to ensure that does not happen at light heavyweight.
Pereira makes his light heavyweight debut later tonight at UFC 291 against former division champ Jan Blachowicz. While the focus of the card is the main event between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, gauging where Pereira stands as a light heavyweight will be a fascinating aspect of the night.
“I was already told if I win this fight, I’ll be fighting for the light heavyweight belt,” says Pereira, speaking through a translator. “It’s time to go get another belt.

As the No. 1 pick and expected Panthers franchise quarterback, Bryce Young has a chance to be a player whom kids admire and idolize. However, he may not be there yet, as evidenced by one interaction with a young fan at training camp.
The Panthers social media account posted a video of Young signing a kid’s jersey at training camp on Saturday, and afterwards Young went to give the pen back to the kid and fist bump him. However, the kid instead took the pen and left Young hanging, leaving the rookie quarterback to fist bump himself in an awkward fashion.

Mere days after his frightening cardiac arrest during a USC basketball practice, Trojans guard Bronny James appears to be back on his feet.
James’s father LeBron James—Lakers forward and the NBA’s all-time leading scorer — posted an Instagram Reel Saturday morning of his eldest son playing the piano with his siblings watching.
“Man of many talents,” LeBron chuckled at the video’s conclusion.
He shared effusive support for his son in the caption as well, which amassed north of 100,000 likes in under 10 minutes.
“GRAND RISING!! God Is Great!” LeBron wrote.
