The NFL’s fifth-leading rusher of all time, Adrian Peterson, threw some salt in the wounds of Texas fans, during his induction speech into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame last weekend.
Peterson was a coveted recruit out of Palestine, Texas, in the class of 2004 who chose to cross the Red River and play his college ball at Oklahoma.
“For the people finding themselves mad at me going to Oklahoma, this is what I would say,” Peterson said. “If you’re going to be mad at anybody, be mad at coach Mack Brown.

With the NFL draft less than two weeks away, teams around the league are evaluating their current rosters before making decisions on incoming rookies. For the Bengals, that means taking a hard look at one of the team’s longest-tenured players.
Joe Mixon has two years remaining on his four-year, $48 million contract, yet he’s no guarantee to remain on the roster for long. That’s because the team is reportedly negotiating a pay cut for the veteran running back, according to The Athletic‘s Paul Dehner Jr. If he doesn’t accept taking less money, the team is likely to release him.

Draymond Green stepped over the line on Monday night when he literally stomped on his opponent’s chest in the fourth quarter.
Though the NBA probably doesn’t have the balls for it, Draymond Green should be suspended.
Green, who’s notorious for being the Golden State Warriors’ goon, attacked Domantas Sabonis in the fourth quarter. Green drove his foot into the Kings big man’s chest after Sabonis grabbed his foot. Draymond was appropriately ejected from the game.

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett told reporters Tuesday that he will no longer participate in the NFL’s Pro Bowl Games in the future.
The four-time Pro Bowl selection dislocated his toe during the Gridiron Gauntlet obstacle course competition in Las Vegas in February. Garrett was competing against Panthers defensive end Brian Burns in the AFC-vs.-NFC competition. After completing his portion of the competition, he limped off the field at Allegiant Stadium.

After conducting an anonymous poll of 108 NBA players, The Athletic compiled an interesting list featuring respondents’ picks for the most overrated and underrated players in the league.
Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young interestingly topped the list as the most overrated player despite averaging 26.2 points and 10.2 assists per game this season. The dynamic scoring threat pulled in 14.8% of the vote.
Following the electric point guard on the overrated list were Knicks power forward Julius Randle (7.4%), Toronto’s Pascal Siakam (7.4%), Miami’s Jimmy Butler (5.

Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr. was locked in at the plate Tuesday against the Giants, and he had a little bit of fun celebrating in front of the home crowd in Miami.
The 25-year-old launched a mammoth three-run home run off San Francisco’s reliever Jakob Junis, who was on the mound in the fourth inning in relief of the injured Alex Wood.
Baseball purists and those opposed to pimping home runs may want to look away, because Chisholm went all out with his trot around the bases.

Baseball looks a little different this season thanks to some substantial rule changes adopted by MLB. And after the warm reception of the pitch timer, shift ban and larger bases, it appears the league isn’t quite done yet with experimentation.
The independent Atlantic League will once again serve as a testing ground for MLB, with three new major rules for this season. It’s unclear how quickly MLB would consider adopting them, or what the criteria is for implementation, but here’s a rundown of what could be on the horizon.

Designated pinch-runner.

The HBO series Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel profiled NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus in its latest episode. Rosenhaus represents former Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter, a top prospect for next week’s NFL Draft.
Carter is one of the most polarizing prospects in the entire class. Most evaluators agree that when it comes to talent, few can match Cater. However, he has had multiple red flags pop up over the course of this NFL Draft season.
One of those is the car accident that killed one Georgia football player and one staff member.
