Embiid was rightly deserving of the award: averaging 33.1 points (leaguewide-best), 10.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists on 34.6 minutes a night.

The 2023 MLB rookie class has already shown star potential.
Corbin Carroll from the Arizona Diamondbacks has helped propel his team into surprising early contention. Hunter Brown has continued the Houston Astros‘ track record of developing quality starting pitchers.
Several other players have made their debut in MLB this season, including Brett Baty of the New York Mets and Japanese baseball import Kodai Senga.
Touted Anthony Volpe of the New York Yankees has also taken over as the team’s starting shortstop.

ESPN’s Bomani Jones makes a living calling things racist. His latest is declaring that NFL fans are so racist the league is going to change its rules to make life harder on black quarterbacks.
He previously said all white people are racist.
So, when Colorado head coach Deion Sanders said that he was “ashamed” of NFL teams for not drafting more HBCU players, one could reasonably assume Jones would back him up.

Former UFC fighter Felipe Colares has died at the age of 29 after being struck by a bus while returning home from a training session in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Monday.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Colares died while en route to Rocha Faria Hospital due to his injuries, his coach Rodrigo Babi told Combate.
Colares, who compiled a 11–4 MMA record, last fought on Feb. 17 in the Ares Fighting Championship in Paris, France defeating Alioune Nahaye via a rear naked choke. 
The talented Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist posted a 2–4 record in the UFC spanning from 2019 to ’21.

Retired Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan said Tuesday that he’s filed a lawsuit against his former team in regard to surgery conducted on the torn ACL in his right knee in October 2020. Lewan provided some insight into his decision on his podcast, Bussin’ With the Boys, though he declined to go into details, citing the ongoing case.
“I wanted to take this opportunity on this podcast to let all of you know what is kind of going on in my life,” Lewan said.

Chris Paul reportedly will be evaluated in one week after suffering a groin injury in Game 2 of the Suns–Nuggets Western Conference semifinal series Monday night, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Paul suffered the injury with five minutes left in the third quarter of the game. While Phoenix held a 59-51 advantage, Paul attempted to box out Denver’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for a rebound. Immediately after the play, Paul was grimacing in pain.
He managed to run up the floor but had to leave the game and head to the locker room.

The New England Patriots signed JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency this offseason. He represents their biggest acquisition on the offensive side of the ball.
Despite rumors the team might look at quarterback replacements, the Patriots did not bring in any options. They are clearly happy to roll with Mac Jones for another season.

AEW has smashed its own company record by selling more than 36,000 tickets during a pre-sale for All-In on Tuesday. Tony Khan decided to take a massive gamble and host an event at Wembley Stadium in London, and it looks like it will pay off.
The wrestling company is building towards its August event, with multiple pre-sales going on before the general public sale begins on Friday. Selling 36,000 tickets on the first day should be seen as a massive success, along with the $4.7 million in revenue they made on Tuesday.

Hours after NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the Grizzlies were happily letting Dillon Brooks walk as an unrestricted free agent, Big Diesel hopped on “The Big Podcast with Shaq” to give his brutally honest opinions on DB.

After finishing as runner-up the past two seasons, 76ers star center Joel Embiid was named the MVP of the 2022–23 season Tuesday night. The announcement was made on Inside the NBA.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Embiid said on Inside the NBA. “A lot of hard work. I’ve been through a lot. … It feels good. I don’t know what to say. It’s amazing.”
Nuggets center Nikola Jokić has won the coveted award the previous two seasons, with Embiid placing a close second in voting both times. But the 29-year-old Embiid wouldn’t be denied this time around.
