When the Lakers drafted Max Christie out of Michigan State with the No. 35 pick in the 2022 NBA draft, there was plenty of intrigue around the selection. While Christie played just one season for the Spartans, he didn’t have stats that jump off the page (9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds) in college, but he showcased some of that upside in limited minutes as a rookie.
Christie, who saw action in 41 games for the Lakers last season, averaged 12.5 minutes per game with marks of 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 41.9% from three-point range and 41.5% from the field.

Djokovic is through to the semis, and seems up for the challenge
With his win in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Novak Djokovic is through to the semifinals at Wimbledon.
The defending champion advanced to the semis with a win over seventh-seeded Andrey Rublev. While Rublev gave Djokovic a bit of a scare at the start, taking the first set, Djokovic took the next three en route to a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Following his victory, Djokovic was interviewed on Centre Court, and he issued a stern warning to the rest of the field.
The October 2021 leaks of Jon Gruden’s toxic emails triggered a series of events that forced Dan Snyder to sell the Commanders. Sources interviewed by ESPN connect the leaks to Snyder, but they also say a larger cast of people might have been involved.
Larry Nassar, the convicted sexual abuser, was stabbed multiple times in prison over the weekend, and ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has absolutely zero sympathy for the former sports doctor.

Be careful not to overreact too much to what you see at NBA Summer League. The performances at the NBA’s annual introduction to rookies and large-scale audition for young players trying to break into the league doesn’t exactly translate cleanly to the games that count, but history has taught us a few things about former first round picks entering their sophomore seasons.
