Phoenix is currently the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.
The Suns have been struggling of late, with six losses it their past eight games, as they try to hold onto the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference. For head coach Monty Williams, frustration boiled over Wednesday night in the form of criticizing officials.
The NBA announced Friday that Williams had been fined $20,000 for his comments about the referees following Phoenix’s 122-111 loss to the Lakers. In that game, Los Angeles widely outdistanced Phoenix in free throw attempts with a 46-20 advantage.

Nothing says “celebrate women’s history” quite like forcing women to celebrate a man.
As part of its Women’s History Month campaign, ESPN ran a minute-long promo Sunday featuring Lia Thomas — a biological male who competed on the women’s swim team at the University of Pennsylvania.
The entire segment paints a picture of Thomas as a pioneer for transgender athletes in Division I sports. It praises Thomas’ persistence and triumph through adversity. And it celebrates Thomas’ championship in the women’s 500 freestyle.

Battlehawks quarterback A.J. McCarron completed 79.3% of his passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns in St. Louis’ 23-point win over Las Vegas on Saturday night. The former three-time national champion at Alabama continues to be one of, if not the best signal-caller in the XFL.

Although McCarron has played well all season, his best game of the year came against the Vipers. And he may have had a little bit of help in reading the defense.

Rick Barnes may have seen the future of Tennessee basketball Thursday night in Madison Square Garden in New York.
And it ain’t him.
After watching young Florida Atlantic coach Dusty May, 46, dismantle the larger, beefier, more highly recruited, more expensive (via NIL) Tennessee players with a significantly less talented and cheaper roster, Tennessee fans have to wonder what it would be like to have May coaching their team.
It sure would be a lot more fun. And they might just be in the Final Four, which is where May and FAU are after knocking off No. 3 seed Kansas State 79-76 on Saturday.

The famed furniture salesman won $75 million on the Astros last year.
After winning $75 million on the Astros‘ World Series championship last fall, Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is going back to the well this year. The famed furniture magnate recently wagered $1.9 million on his hometown Astros to repeat this season.
The bet is for the Astros to win the World Series at +600 odds, which would net Mattress Mack over $11 million in winnings.
Before the season last year, Mattress Mack first bet $3 million on the Astros to win it all at +1000 odds.

As the University of Miami continues its March Madness run in 2023, head coach Jim Larranaga is singing the praises of Name, Image and Likeness. NIL continue to play a large role in the success of Hurricanes basketball — both men’s and women’s — and it’s working.
Miami’s men’s team reached the Elite Eight as a No. 5 seed. Miami’s women’s team reached the Elite Eight as a No. 9 seed.
Both programs have a roster that looks different than it did a year ago. NIL opportunities factor into that equation.

The veteran played for the Ravens from 2020 through ’22.
Veteran free agent defensive lineman Calais Campbell is scheduled to visit the Bills and Jets this week, according to Tiffany Blackmon of 92.9 The Game in Atlanta. Campbell reportedly has visited with the Falcons and Jaguars this offseason.
Campbell has played 15 NFL seasons with the Cardinals, Jaguars and Ravens, earning six Pro Bowl nods. He also won the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2019.

Drew Timme shared a very nice message after closing the door on his college career Saturday night.
Gonzaga got the brakes beat off them by UConn 82-54 in the Elite Eight, and it was the last time fans of the Bulldogs will see Timme in uniform. While he could actually return, the star college forward announced in February his time with the program would end at the end of the year.
Following the brutal loss, Timme spoke about how special Gonzaga will always be to him.
