Cincinnati Reds infielder Elly De La Cruz made his presence felt in a major way on Wednesday night by sending his first big league home run into orbit. The 21-year-old turned on a pitch and nearly sent the baseball out of the ballpark.
De La Cruz made his MLB debut the day prior picking up his first career hit in the form of a double, but the no-doubt home run certainly had a different feel to it.

Could F1 be the next acquisition for the Saudi Arabian-backed PIF following the LIV-PGA merger?
The sports world was stunned on Tuesday when, after months of feuding and litigation, it was announced that the PGA Tour was merging with the upstart LIV Tour.
Tuesday’s announcement sent shockwaves throughout the sporting world, as it came after months of a protracted feud between players and the two different tours.

The Nuggets beat the Heat, 109–94, in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night to take a 2–1 series lead.
Leading the way once again was Denver’s star, Nikola Jokić , who racked up another triple-double with 32 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists, which made him the first player in NBA Finals history to have a 30-20-10 game.
Jamal Murray also had a triple-double for Denver, finishing with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. 
Jokić has been unstoppable during the playoffs and he’s also been very humble about it all.

Japan’s Miyu Kato became a French Open champion on Thursday, four days after she was controversially disqualified from the women’s doubles for accidentally hitting a ball girl.”It has been challenging mentally in the last few days after my unjust disqualification from the women’s doubles,” Kato told the Court Philippe Chatrier crowd, reading from a prepared statement.

The Astros and Blue Jays square off for the fourth game of a four-game series Thursday night at the Rogers Center. The Jays lead this series 2-1, winning the last two in a row after Alek Manoah’s implosion in game one of the series.
When this series started, I said I believed the teams would split, 2-2, so I am following up my prediction and backing Houston behind Frambe Valdez at -120 tonight.
Valdez has been excellent this season and is once again in the AL Cy Young conversation. His ERA of 2.17 is well below his xERA of 3.85, but Valdez’s 59.

Former USC football player Joshua Jackson Jr. has been arrested and charged with raping three women. He has been charged with four felonies including three felony counts of forcible rape and one count of forcible sexual penetration.
Jackson Jr.’s bail has been set at $1.4 million.
According to the LA Times, police investigators have reason to believe that Jackson Jr. may have been involved in other unreported sexual assaults as well.
Jackson Jr. is accused of raping a female classmate at USC on campus in March.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan didn’t help his case on Wednesday during a segment with Golf Channel as he addressed 9/11 families.
PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan joined Golf Channel on Wednesday to discuss the massive deal that has taken over the entire sport of golf. Tuesday, it was announced that the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and the Saudi’s Public Investment Fund were merging.
After the news broke Tuesday, the 9/11 Families United tore into Monahan for his perceived hypocrisy.

The safety position has been evolving for years.
Once known for its heavy hitters who came crashing down into the middle to hammer receivers, safeties are now tasked with more man-to-man coverage and the ability to range on the back end. Simultaneously, blitzing has continued to be a part of the job requirement while also coming up in run support to help in sub-packages.
