Derrick White’s buzzer beater in Game 6 drew strong reactions from NBA fans, as the Celtics successfully kept their season alive and forced Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Heat.
It seems the only person who wasn’t hung up on the game-winner was Boston’s coach Joe Mazzulla.
Mazzulla spoke to reporters in the aftermath of Game 6’s stunning victory, but he admitted that he wasn’t focusing on White’s shot. When asked what went through his mind after White’s game-winner, Mazzulla issued a very on-character response.
“Nothing.

The Celtics and Heat will play a seventh game of the Eastern Conference Finals to cap off what’s been a wild back-and-forth series.
Boston is now on the verge of making NBA history by becoming the first team to ever come back and win a series after trailing 3–0. Only three other teams have ever even tied a series up after such a start, but none were able to get the job done.
After Derrick White beat the buzzer with a heroic late putback shot on an errant Marcus Smart jumper, the series will shift back to Boston for the finale.

Celtics guard Derrick White is the most beloved individual in the city of Boston right about now.
With the Celtics’ season on the line, White came up with one of the most clutch plays of the postseason, corralling a rebound and converting on a perfectly-timed putback following a missed game-winning field goal attempt from Marcus Smart.
Amid all the hoopla surrounding White’s buzzer beater, no one was happier for the 28-year-old than his father.

Following their wild 104–103 victory in Game 6, the Celtics have forced Game 7 against the Heat, tying the series and becoming the fourth team in NBA history to even things up after a 3–0 deficit.
A wild game ended up in a fittingly crazy finish, as Jimmy Butler had given the Heat a one-point lead with three seconds left in the game after drawing a foul on Al Horford while attempting a three-point shot. Butler coolly converted all three shots, giving Miami a 103–102 lead.
During Boston’s timeout, Joe Mazzulla drew up a last second shot for Marcus Smart.

Count Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce as one of the few players banging the drum for Thursday night football games.
Pretty much anyone who has ever talked about Thursday night NFL games has been against them. That includes Al Michaels, who was subjected to a lot of terrible ones last year as the voice of Thursday Night Football (although things are looking up this season).

Kelce Brothers Sound Off On New NFL Kickoff Rule: ‘This Is Whack’

While most of the complaints from players stem from having short weeks, Kelce has a different take.

Jayson Tatum was on fire in the first half of Game 6 against the Heat on Saturday. The Celtics star dropped a game-high 25 points in the half, helping Boston hold onto a four-point lead through the first two quarters.
Tatum is looking to keep the Celtics’ season alive. A win on Saturday would see the Eastern Conference finals evened up at three wins apiece and force a Game 7 in Boston.
His 25 points came on 7-of-13 shooting from the field, and he added 11 points on 11 attempts from the free throw line.

NBA on TNT commentator Stan Van Gundy made sure Tyler Herro didn’t have the last word in their ongoing war of words on Saturday after the Miami guard responded to the ex-NBA coach’s comments from Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Van Gundy went viral on Tuesday after jabbing at Herro, who has been sidelined since April 16 with a broken hand, about his fashion. On Saturday, the fourth-year guard responded to SVG’s barb with a roast of his own in an Instagram post insinuating he was a bad coach during his 18 seasons at the helm.
