BATON ROUGE – LSU coach Jay Johnson did not bat an eye as he watched a record eight SEC baseball teams receive host sites for NCAA Regional play that opens Friday.
“After going through that schedule, absolutely not,” he said at Alex Box Stadium on Monday after the NCAA Selection Show.
The SEC also tied its record for most selections to the 64-team NCAA Tournament with 10. And the league had the largest number of top eight national seeds this year with four – No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 5 LSU and No. 6 Vanderbilt.
The other four national seeds were No. 1 Wake Forest, No.

The 76ers have found their next head coach.
After parting ways with Doc Rivers following Philadelphia’s second-round playoff exit against the Celtics, the team has reportedly agreed to terms with former Raptors head coach Nick Nurse, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Nurse was with Toronto from 2018 to ’23, but was fired after the ’22–23 NBA season. He spent the past 10 seasons with the Raptors, five as an assistant and five as a head coach including the ’19 campaign when he won a championship. He led the team for 390 games, amassing a 227–163 record.

Following a first-round victory at the French Open, tennis player Sloane Stephens talked to the press about facing racism online.
According to Reuters, Sloane says that she faces more racism now than in the past.
“Yes, it’s obviously been a problem my entire career,” said Stephens. “It has never stopped. If anything, it’s only gotten worse.”
“People online have the free rein to say and do whatever they want behind fake pages, which is obviously very troublesome,” Sloane continued.

Doug Mientkiewicz did not hold back when discussing his former Yankees and high school teammate Alex Rodriguez on a recent podcast appearance.
The former MLB first baseman, who played for New York in the 2007 season, seems to have very little respect for A-Rod now. He began talking about how Rodriguez’s PED suspension in 2014 seems to often be forgotten when discussing the former Yankee’s legacy.
“It’s painful,” Mientkiewicz said on the Foul Territory podcast. “It’s like, wait a minute, do you [forget] you got suspended 200 games? It’s like, ‘Come on, man. Stop it.

You’d think someone married to Skip Bayless would be used to his tantrums.
The “Undisputed” host said his wife, Ernestine Sclafani, refuses to speak to him because he snapped at her after the Boston Celtics’ buzzer beater win in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals.
“I still have not recovered from Saturday night,” Bayless told Shannon Sharpe. “My wife is still not speaking to me because I threw a fit.”
On Monday’s show, Bayless said he felt too many emotions and couldn’t sleep after Boston forced a Game 7.

The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics meet in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night. If the Heat win, they would need to travel to Denver for Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Nuggets. And, according to FAA records, that’s exactly what they’re planning to do.

The Heat have a flight scheduled to Denver, not Miami, after the game tonight, per FAA records.

You have to respect the positive energy that the Heat are putting out into the universe. Why not plan for the best-case scenario? Even though, as -7.
