Charles Barkley is one of sports media’s best comedians, and he reinforced that title on Friday.
Before Friday’s NCAA Tournament game between Pittsburgh and Iowa State, Barkley had his studio show co-hosts cracking up.
He explained that during his playing days, he would shower in his team uniform to clean them off after games. Somehow, he believed it was “easier” that way than doing laundry.

Charles Barkley: “We used to take a shower in our uniforms…”
“It’s just easier to clean that way.”

The Boilermakers’ disastrous loss to Fairleigh Dickinson is the worst of a trifecta of NCAA tournament catastrophes.
If you thought UMBC beating Virginia was incomprehensible … If you thought March Madness No. 1 seeds couldn’t get anymore shockingly collapsible … If you thought you’d seen the outer edge of NCAA tournament shock …
Get a load of Fairleigh Dickinson beating Purdue. My god.
Tony Bennett, you’re off the hook. Turns out, the Thursday column on Virginia’s collapse was premature.

The Knights landed a historic upset in a year where the program did not win the NEC title game.
A year ago, No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson won a mere total of four games. On Friday, a year later, FDU delivered a shocking upset to No. 1 seed Purdue in a season that almost saw the program not play in the men’s NCAA tournament at all.
FDU plays in the Northeast Conference. However, the Knights did not win the NEC tournament, instead losing to Merrimack by one point in the title game.

The top-seeded Boilermakers suffered one the biggest upset in NCAA tournament history, losing to the 23.5-point underdog Knights.
No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson’s 63–58 win over top-seeded Purdue immediately moves to the top of the biggest upsets in the history of the NCAA tournament. Based on Sports Reference data, it’s the largest upset based on point spread in Big Dance history. The Knights were 23.5-point underdogs. The previous high: 21 points, when Norfolk State beat Missouri as a No. 15 seed in 2012.
