Maalik Murphy is slated to serve as the backup quarterback at Texas this fall. He will be listed behind Quinn Ewers on the depth chart, barring unforeseen changes over the next four months.
Murphy seems to be content in his current role, considering he reportedly turned down multiple offers to leave. The Longhorns’ NIL package also may have helped keep him in Austin.

You can now add Jay Williams to the list of ESPN employees who are offended by Mount Rushmore. During Thursday’s edition of ‘First Take,’ Williams pleaded that we stop using the metaphor sports fans have been using for decades because it triggers him.
The Mount Rushmore talk started after Stephen A. Smith declared on Wednesday’s show that he would replace LeBron James on his Mount Rushmore of NBA greats with Steph Curry if Curry went on to win his fifth NBA championship this summer.
New details have emerged regarding Lamar Jackson’s record-breaking contract extension with the Ravens, which made him the highest-paid player in NFL history.
Jackson inked a five-year, $260 million contract extension with Baltimore last week, which includes $185 million in guaranteed money. However, there are also two additional clauses that are important to Jackson’s new deal.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported on Thursday that Jackson’s contract includes both a no-tag clause, as well as a no-trade clause.
Hunter Dickinson ended perhaps the highest-profile transfer portal recruitment ever when he committed to Kansas on Thursday. Dickinson’s recruitment took more than a month and included five visits, a rarity in the portal era. With so many other talented players already off the board and the transfer portal window closing in a week, where will the schools that came up short in the Dickinson sweepstakes turn now?
Here’s a look at where each finalist in the Dickinson lottery stands for the 2023–24 season.
TNT learned firsthand that just because you have access to a drone with a camera mounted on it doesn’t mean you have to use it during coverage of the NBA Playoffs.
The network debuted an all-new way to score some sweet camera angles for their broadcasts. It sounds like a good idea in theory,
At least not if you think about it too much — then you realize it’s kind of awful — but when you first hear it you think, “That’s not completely terrible.”

Fantasy baseball analyst Andy Behrens offers his latest batch of pickup options, headlined by a top prospect making his debut for the Cubs.
He did request a trade in March. He did make it public by putting it on his social media. But on Thursday when he finally signed his new $260 million contract, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson decided those facts of history are no longer important.
“Today, we’re going to keep it about the future,” Jackson told reporters. “I’m not really worried about what happened in the past. We’re going to keep it about these next five years and keep it about what’s going on today.

To imagine that the Lakers could make the playoffs, let alone win a title, in January was virtually impossible. Los Angeles started the year 2-10 and went into the trade deadline as the No. 13-seed in the Western Conference.
It wasn’t working, and something needed to change. So it did.
Lamar Jackson signed his blockbuster five-year, $260 million contract extension on Thursday. Afterwards, he addressed reporters for the first time since agreeing to the terms of the record-breaking deal a week ago.
Prior to signing his new extension, the 2019 NFL MVP and the Ravens had been at a stalemate regarding Jackson’s desire to receive a full guaranteed deal. In March, Baltimore imposed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson, which gave both parties until July 17 to secure a multi-year extension.
The two-time Pro Bowler had even requested a trade from the franchise on March 2.
The Ravens signed quarterback Lamar Jackson to a contract extension last week after a back-and-forth negotiation process that left the star’s future in Baltimore in doubt.
Now, Jackson has a new five-year deal that comes on the heels of the team placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on him, which allowed the quarterback to negotiate a deal with other teams in exchange for two first-round picks if Baltimore didn’t match the opposing teams’ offer sheet.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta told ProFootballTalk on Wednesday that he was pleased to work something out with Jackson.
