TNT’s Kevin Harlan is as good as any announcer calling NBA games today, and he proved it again on Monday night. 
In the final minute of Game 1 between the Celtics and Sixers, Boston was clinging to a one-point lead and attempting to run as much time off the clock as possible. Thanks to some smothering Philadelphia defense, Malcolm Brogdon had the ball in his hands with the shot clock about to expire. He fired an aimless pass that went right into the hands of Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey, who streaked down the floor for an uncontested layup that put Philly ahead, 114–113.

Connor Vanover has played college basketball at three schools in four years. It is about to be four in five.
Vanover, the tallest player in the sport, is set to transfer — again.
As a three-star recruit from Little Rock, Arkansas, Vanover began his career at California-Berkeley. He chose the Golden Bears over offers from Arkansas, Memphis, Alabama, Ole Miss, Oral Roberts, and SMU, among others.
Cal listed Vanover at 7-foot-3, and he averaged 17.5 minutes per game before deciding to transfer back home to play for the Razorbacks. His first year with the Hogs saw him average 16.

Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles was the most-watched Super Bowl of all-time according to newly released Nielsen data.
A total of 115.1 million viewers tuned in to watch the Chiefs take down the Eagles in February, which was a 2% uptick from the year prior when the Los Angeles Rams topped the Cincinnati Bengals. The initial viewership numbers reflected that 113 million tuned into Super Bowl LVII.
Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, Russell Wilson’s infamous interception game against the New England Patriots, previously held the record for most viewers with 114.

And now we can wrap things up on the NFL draft …
• It’s fifth-year-option time again, with the deadline for teams to pull the trigger on those with 2020 first-round picks at 4 p.m. ET today. As of this morning, 12 of the 32 options had been picked up.
The big decision coming into the day was the call the Packers had to make on Jordan Love. They’ve since answered the question they were facing there creatively. They negotiated a one-year extension that maxes out at $22.5 million in new money—which tops the $20.27 million Green Bay would’ve given Love by picking up the option.

We knew Jordan Love was the new starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers this coming season. But after he signed a one-year extension on Tuesday, it’s now obvious the team plans to give Love the next two seasons to prove he’s their guy.
This is true because Love and the team have agreed to a one-year contract extension that effectively raises the quarterback’s salary to mid-starter level heights this season and seemingly assures he’ll be around for the 2024 season.

It’s only May, but for Yankees fans it’s felt like an eternity.
After a 9th inning blunder on Monday in which manager Aaron Boone pulled starting pitcher Domingo German’s scoreless gem only to bring in reliever Clay Holmes to lose 3-2, Yanks fans are on edge as their team holds sole ownership of… last place in the AL East.
Add to the fact that Aaron Judge has officially been placed on the 10-day IL with a hip strain. It’s not great for the team in the greatest city in the world.

Since June of 2020, Aljamain Sterling has fought four times.
Despite more than a modicum of controversy along the way, Sterling went undefeated during that stretch. It included two defenses of the UFC bantamweight championship, equaling as many as any former champ in the division.
During that same timeframe, Henry Cejudo did not fight. The former bantamweight champ, flyweight champ, and Olympic gold medalist was retired, and he rested and rehabbed lingering injuries. Yet retirement was quick for Cejudo.

The 2023 NFL Draft is in the books, so it’s time for fans of prop bets to start looking at which players are most likely to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. First, let’s take a walk down memory lane and see which first-year stars have earned the award in the last 10 years to see what trends we can find that help us make a better wager.
During our timeframe, three quarterbacks have earned the honor. Those were Justin Herbert (2020), Kyler Murray (2019) and Dak Prescott (2016).

There is no love lost between USC and UCLA. The crosstown rivals, separated by less than 15 miles, always bring the fireworks when they are stacked up against each other in athletic competition.
Sunday’s track meet was no exception. It ended with mayhem and two disqualifications.
The Trojans traveled to Westwood for the annual dual meet, hosted by the Bruins, and split, with the women’s team winning for the former, and the men’s team winning for the latter. Despite the final result, it was USC that got the moral victory with an intense win in the 4x400m relay.
