There are great rounds of golf and then there is what Sam Burns did Sunday afternoon in Austin, Texas. Facing Cameron Young in the championship match of the World Golf Championships (WGC) Dell Technologies Match Play event.
Earlier in the day, Burns benefitted from Scottie Scheffler missing a very short putt that would have ended his title run. But, Scheffler did miss and Burns took advantage. Not just by making the final match, but by absolutely railroading Cameron Young.

It’s that time of year! Players spend Spring Training trying to impress major league coaches, like Aaron Boone. And some make the Opening Day roster, a dream come true. For New York Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe, that dream officially became reality.
Wait, this feels familiar. Didn’t I already write this story? Oh wait, that was about St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker.
See? It really is that time of year! Anyway, we have another prospect getting that call to the big leagues and onto the Opening Day roster.
The new Broncos coach says teams reached out about trades but they’re not interested.
Sean Payton hasn’t coached a single snap for the Broncos since coming out of retirement, but he’s already dismissing whispers that are surrounding his players. Payton denied rumors that Denver is looking to trade wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton when he spoke to NFL Network this weekend.
“I see and read just like everyone else does,” Payton told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Sunday at the Annual League Meeting.

The NCAA offered an explanation for the controversial final seconds.
After a controversial ending on the final play of the Elite Eight matchup between San Diego State and Creighton on Sunday, the NCAA has come forth with an explanation for the decision from the referees.
The Bluejays’ last-second cross-court inbounds pass was tipped into the air and bounced out of bounds. While the ball appeared to travel out of play with some time left on the clock, officials determined that the game clock did not start when the ball was tipped.
The Creighton coach admitted that “officiating is part of the game.”
The end of the Elite Eight game between No. 5 San Diego State and No. 6 Creighton finished in a weird sequence, to say the least.
The Aztecs ended up winning 57–56 after SDSU guard Darrion Trammell was fouled with 1.2 seconds to play. Trammell made one of his two free throws to seal the win for SDSU.
Some fans weren’t happy with the officiating late in the game, and it certainly wouldn’t be outside the purvey of Creighton head coach, Greg McDermott, to express similar sentiment.
Like many people, he wasn’t happy.
It was a controversial ending to San Diego State’s nail-biting win over Creighton in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Naturally, Charles Barkley didn’t hide his opinion and shared what he thought of the game’s final seconds.
“I hate when a referee decides a game,” he said on the postgame show, according to Matt Mosley of Fox Sports.
What Barkley is referring to is the controversial call that came in the game’s final moments with both teams tied at 56.
This isn’t the ending fans wanted. But officials got it right with a trip to the Final Four on the line.

Cameron Young saved his biggest shots for the end Sunday in a turnaround to knock out Rory McIlroy, and Sam Burns also posted a surprise win, eliminating close friend and defending champion Scottie Scheffler at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event.
