Home plate turned into a crime scene Monday after Boston Red Sox third baseman Justin Turner took a fastball to the face.
The errant throw came in the first inning of a spring training game between Boston and the Detroit Tigers. Detroit pitcher Matt Manning threw the ball up and in, only for the pitch to make direct contact with Turner’s face.
Turner writhed on the ground in pain after taking the hit. The live feed’s commentators were left aghast by the sight of blood pouring out of Turner’s mouth as Boston’s medical team rushed over to check on the player.

The new Longhorn practiced for the first time with the team this spring.
As college football teams begin their spring practices, it is the first time that reclassified freshmen have a chance to play with their new teammates. That includes maybe the most popular freshman in the country: Texas quarterback Arch Manning.
The Longhorns held their first practice of the season on Monday, with Manning taking part for the first time in Austin. After the practice, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian explained how Manning looked in his first action.

The 23-year-old appeared to brandish a gun during an Instagram Live video Saturday morning.
Police in Colorado are investigating Grizzlies star Ja Morant after he appeared to brandish a firearm at a Glendale, Colo., nightclub in an Instagram Live video posted Saturday morning, ESPN reported Monday.
In a week when the two-time All-Star has come under scrutiny for his off-court actions, Glendale police are reportedly investigating whether Morant broke state gun laws. Though Colorado is an open-carry state, it is illegal to possess a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

A report surfaced Monday that the Tennessee Titans are shopping running back Derrick Henry in a trade. Whether or not that’s true, who knows. But they definitely should NOT try to trade him.
Here’s why: I don’t think he has much trade value.
Derrick Henry is an excellent NFL running back, but he’s 29 years old. He’s 123 touches away from 2,000 in his career, including 1,750 carries.
Only Mark Ingram and Zeke Elliott have more carries among active players. And both of those players are clearly on the backend of their careers.
Like it or not, so is Henry.

The league stripped the Greek Freak of his final rebound.
Giannis Antetokounmpo pulled off a last-second triple-double Sunday night during the Bucks’ win over the Wizards, but after a closer look, the NBA has rescinded his final rebound.
In the waning moments of Milwaukee’s 117-111 win at Washington, Antetokounmpo was dribbling out the clock when his teammates informed him he was one rebound shy of a triple-double. In order to notch his 10th board, Giannis tossed the ball off the backboard to himself.
