Diana Taurasi has starred for the Mercury since the club made her the No. 1 pick in the 2014 WNBA draft. On Saturday morning, Phoenix announced that the legendary guard has signed a multi-year deal to remain with the team.
“Diana Taurasi belongs in a Mercury uniform, and we are grateful for the continued faith she demonstrates in our organization by returning year after year,” general manager Jim Pitman said in the team’s announcement.

Dale Earnhardt, arguably NASCAR’s greatest racer and inarguably the sport’s biggest icon, died 22 years ago today.
Yep. Hard to believe, but it’s been over two decades since The Intimidator wrecked coming off Turn 4 on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. Earnhardt was just 49.
He finished his Hall of Fame career with 76 wins, seven NASCAR championships, and, of course, the one Daytona 500 in 1998. Earnhardt’s death was the news for weeks, transcended the sport, and marked a turning point for NASCAR safety protocols.

You have to see how Xander Schauffele got inside the cut line Friday at the Genesis Invitational
There are probably easier ways to sneak inside the cut line on the Friday of a PGA tournament.
But there might not be a more satisfying way than what Xander Schauffele did on Friday evening at the Genesis Invitational.
With the projected cut line for the tournament sitting at +1, Schauffele was at +3 for the tournament heading into his final two holes. When he put his tee shot on 17 into a fairway bunker, sticking around for the weekend seemed unlikely.

The longtime Chiefs offensive coordinator is a two-time Super Bowl champion.
The Commanders are hiring Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as their offensive coordinator and assistant head coach, the team announced Saturday morning in a release. The announcement followed Friday reports that Washington and Bieniemy were finalizing a deal.
Bieniemy, 53, has served as Kansas City’s offensive coordinator since 2018. With the Chiefs, Bieniemy won two Super Bowl championships in 2019 and ’22, and helped shape quarterback Patrick Mahomes into one of the best players in the NFL.

Robert Griffin III, Charles Woodson and others slammed the situation.
For years, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has been considered a prime candidate for a head coaching position. And for years, Bieniemy has been passed over.
“Eric Bieniemy has been tremendous for us and I think he’s tremendous for the National Football League,” Kansas City coach Andy Reid said of his longtime assistant after the Super Bowl. “I’m hoping he has an opportunity to go somewhere and do his thing, where he can run the show and be Eric Bieniemy.

Cleveland agreed to a buyout with the 34-year-old forward this week, per reports.
The Cavaliers have reportedly agreed to a buyout with veteran forward Kevin Love, after his role with the team had diminished during the season. Once he’s available, another Eastern Conference playoff contender—the Heat—is expected to make a serious run at the five-time All-Star, per The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.
“Interested teams believe Miami’s ability to offer a defined role and playoff positioning are leading factors,” Charania says, calling the team the “leaders” in pursuit of Love.

Greg Hardy was warned. They are all warned.
Professional athletes, by intuition, think that they can do anything. It’s what separates them from someone who may have been just as good, but lacked that mental fortitude.
But it’s that same arrogance, blindness, stubbornness that in recent years has allowed athletes to think that they can cross over into the fight world realm.
News flash to everyone – more times than not, you can’t.
Greg Hardy learned that on Friday night when he got knocked the absolute hell out while participating in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
