An MMA fighter learned the hard way that there is a very different set of rules in boxing after he earned himself a lifetime ban for knocking out his opponent with a kick to the noggin.
At least he kept it above the belt.
Idris Abdurashidov is a Russian MMA fighter with a 4-0 record. He decided to diversify his combat sports portfolio by trying his hand at boxing.
So, according to talkSPORT,  he got himself a fight at Ali Boxing Club in Phuket, Thailand Thailand against Iranian fighter Bagher Faraji.

Even the experts didn’t expect the Shohei Ohtani 50/50 baseball to go for this much.
Wednesday night’s final bidding via Goldin Auction ended with the prized baseball not only being sold for the highest price of a baseball ever, but ANY sports ball as well.
The anonymous bidder dropped a nice, cool, totally normal $4.392 MILLION at auction Tuesday night, easily surpassing the previous $3 million record set in 1999 for Mark McGwire’s 70th home run baseball.
What’s wild about this amount of money is that NOBODY thought it would come close to this.

Sean Payton and co. reach their highest rank of 2024.
We’re fast approaching the midpoint of the season and it’s safe to say we have a pretty good idea of where teams are slotting in. There’s a near-perfect bell curve of team records, with nine teams having two or fewer losses, and 11 teams with two or fewer wins — while everyone else is stuck in the middle.
One team that has been stunning this year are the Broncos. At 4-3 it’s not like they’re blowing everyone out of the water, but it’s a much better result than many expected.

It’s happening, boys and girls. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is bringing back the iconic No. 8 Budweiser for the first time in nearly 20 years.
That’s right. I said it. And it’s true. It’s been nearly 20 years since Junior last raced in perhaps one of the most recognizable cars in NASCAR history, but that’s about to end.
Dale made the announcement with a flurry of social media posts yesterday – he’s nothing if not a marketer, you know – and NASCAR Twitter responded as you’d expect.

Kate Magdziuk shares her Week 8 running back rankings for standard scoring leagues and highlights three flex options with favorable matchups.
Despite the narratives that have circulated about the running back position “not mattering” over the past few seasons, there’s no doubt that they have certainly been the ones to carry our fantasy teams, especially in Week 7. Now, fantasy football managers will have a full pool of RBs to work with this week (outside of injuries), as there are no teams on bye.

How the Packers’ defense started looking creative and dangerous under Jeff Hafley.
The Packers’ defense gave a statement performance in their Week 7 win over the Houston Texans. Coming into the week, Green Bay had been up and down on that side of the ball, sometimes looking great and sometimes looking like the unit that struggled last year. However, what they did to QB CJ Stroud and the Texans has to be broken down, because they poked holes in all of Houston’s protection plans en route to a 24-22 victory.

We all know that New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba isn’t afraid to make a hit if he needs to — and even sometimes when he doesn’t — and he did just that on Tuesday night with a massive check on Montreal Canadiens defenseman Justin Barron.
However, it ignited a debate over whether or not it was a clean check.
The Rangers visited the Canadiens on a full night of NHL hockey with all 32 in action (how wonderful was that, by the way? It was like Christmas and several birthdays rolled into one) and this one was all Rangers.

Plus, who’s the least impressive first-year NFL head coach so far this season?
Another weekend of fantastic NFL action has come and gone and because the powers that be insist… we had another doubleheader on Monday night.
But we are through Week 7 and there is a whole lot of where we are that does not match what we thought this season was going to look like. Last week brought us two superstar wide receiver trades and the bigger one (in name) didn’t do anything to impact the weekend’s results.
