Commanders QB Jayden Daniels is getting his ribs checked out in Week 7.
Jayden Daniels has been a rookie star for the Washington Commanders at quarterback. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has been lighting it up to begin his pro career, and he figured to continue his hot play in a matchup against the pitiful Carolina Panthers in Week 7.
Daniels exited the game in the second quarter with what appeared to be a midsection injury.

The NFC North is the most competitive division in the NFL with the Vikings, Lions, Packers and Bears boasting winning records and all focused on getting to the postseason. But it’s the Lions’ division, folks.
Again.
It didn’t exactly look that way before Sunday because the Minnesota Vikings were 5-0 and leading the pack and about to play the Lions at home where they hadn’t lost in three tries.
But, well, the Lions had other plans.
Lions 31.
Vikings 29.
“That was a good win, that was a good win,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said.

The Texas Longhorns’ loss to the Georgia Bulldogs last night cost them more than just the top spot in the AP Top 25 rankings.
Late in the third quarter, the referees made a highly controversial defensive holding call on defensive back Jahdae Barron as he intercepted a pass from Carson Beck. Everyone not in Georgia red, from the fans in the stands to the broadcasters in the ESPN booth, knew that this was beyond a shadow of a doubt not a penalty.
In fact, Texas fans were so convinced that the referees botched this call that they decided to do something about it.

If there was one sentence that Washington Commanders fans did not want to hear this season, it was this: “Jayden Daniels is hurt and headed to the locker room.”
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
On the first offensive play of the game, Daniels went down hard after a huge 47-yard run and appeared to be in considerable pain after that.
He stayed in the game for the remainder of the drive, but kept wincing in pain and holding his hand near his stomach. The Commanders ultimately settled for a field goal.

Saquon Barkley responded to the New York Giants letting him walk this offseason, by running all over his former team on Sunday.
Now wearing Philadelphia Eagles green, Barkley reunited with the G-Men for a Week 7 face-off, and Barkley played with a vengeance: rushing for 177 yards (10.4 yards per rush) and a touchdown.
Barkley’s revenge game went as expected, with Philly routing New York, 28-3.
Going to the longtime rival of his former team seemed like a direct jab by Barkley, aimed at the Giants for not offering him a long-term contract extension after being New York’s former No.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is active for Week 7, but is dealing with an illness heading into the game.
First quarter update: Samuel is not seeing playing time due to his illness. He was shown on TV wearing an oxygen mask and later talking to a team doctor. Additionally, the 49ers have put a fan behind him to help cool him down, per Tom Rinaldi.

There’s a saying in the NFL that there’s “no player more popular than the backup quarterback.”
That’s definitely true for the Atlanta Falcons. The team signed veteran Kirk Cousins to a lucrative contract in the off-season, but Atlanta also drafted Washington quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. with the 8th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Cousins entered the season as the unquestioned starter, but he was coming off a devastating Achilles injury last season. And it showed early in the season.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton saw his United States Grand Prix come to an early end
AUSTIN — Lewis Hamilton had never spun in Turn 3 before at the Circuit of the Americas.
Until this week.
Earlier this week in practice Hamilton had a spin in Turn 3, something that might have been an indication that he was in for a difficult week here in Austin. In the early stages of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix Hamilton spun off the track and into the gravel at Turn 19, bringing his day to a close on just the third lap of the race.
