The Missouri Tigers have a pretty smart plan to get people amped up for the program’s game against Auburn:
Cheap beer.
The Tigers are currently 5-1, and the team’s loss was a brutal blowout at the hands of Texas A&M. Missouri definitely hasn’t looked the part after being a preseason national title contender.
Despite the humiliating loss to the Aggies, the team has everything it wants in front of it, but fans might not be excited about an 11 am local time kick Saturday against Auburn.
Fortunately, the Tigers have a plan to get butts in seats by the time the game starts.

If you watched the NFL’s last two prime time games you’d have to worry about the state of the game because, yes, it has been ugly.
The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills combined for a stunning 22 penalties for 204 yards on Monday night.
And Thursday night, the New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos put on a snoozer in which some of the more compelling plays were dropped interceptions, a fumble return for a touchdown called back by an offside penalty, and the inconsistent play of two rookie quarterbacks.
But the NFL will survive this.
At 17, the Tide’s dominant freshman was supposed to still be in high school this fall — and former opponents are glad he’s not.

There’s more than meets the eye with Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado.
Ask an NBA fan about Jose Alvarado, and chances are the first thing they bring up is his defense.
And for good reason. The Puerto Rican guard who’s generously listed at 6-feet tall has made a name for himself in the basketball world over the past half decade as one of the sports’ preeminent pests.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is focused on his own fight, and not the one between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris
AUSTIN — Thursday in the Ferrari hospitality space, Charles Leclerc addressed the assembled Formula 1 media world, including SB Nation. The very first question he faced was whether he would be acting as something of a “referee” in the title race between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.
For Leclerc, who sits third in the Drivers’ Championship, he has something else in mind.

Looking ahead to this week, there’s a fun slate of games with some big California and Florida teams facing off.
We’re back with another week of high school games after an exciting slate last week. Duncanville, a top-five team in the nation, took down nationally-ranked DeSoto 42-20, while No. 1 Mater Dei continued their dominance with a 28-6 win over Servite.
Elsewhere, in a battle between top-25 teams, Chaminade-Madonna edged past St.

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri talked about the new reality this season ahead of the United States Grand Prix
AUSTIN — During Thursday’s FIA Press Conference, Lando Norris talked about the adjusted expectations at McLaren. After getting off to a somewhat slow start, the Woking-based operation has rocketed to the top of the Formula 1 standings, leading the Constructors’ Championship with six race weekends left.
Mark Ingram thinks Kirby Smart is lucky a fight didn’t start after he shoved Mississippi State QB Michael Van Buren.
A minor scandal erupted last weekend after the Georgia head coach appeared to shove Van Buren on the Georgia sideline.
Was contact made? Without a doubt, but it was clearly not on purpose. Smart was attempting to get the attention of DC Glenn Schumann when he made accidental contact with the Mississippi State QB.
He clearly didn’t see who he shoved, but that hasn’t stopped people from making it a way bigger deal than it needs to be.
Kirk Herbstreit put some Ohio State fans on blast after the team’s loss to Oregon.
The Buckeyes lost 32-31 to the Ducks this past weekend, and the game ended with OSU QB Will Howard scrambling as the clock hit zero instead of getting down for a final shot at the end zone or a field goal.
Howard simply lost track of how much time was left, and it cost Ohio State another play. A little trickery from Oregon to put 12 men on the field certainly didn’t help, but at the end of the day, the Buckeyes QB should have had better clock awareness.
Home runs from Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton gave the Yankees a late lead before the Guardians battled back.
