Shohei Ohtani’s second home run of the postseason could hardly be spotted by the naked eye. The Japanese Dodgers superstar finally showed up in the National League Championship Series: blasting a 410-foot rocket into the second deck at Citi Field to put LA up 7-0 in Game 3 — almost requiring a Hubble telescope to spot in the Flushing night sky.
LA sailed to an 8-0 win over New York.
Nearly dormant for the first two games, Ohtani showed up when it mattered most, as the Dodgers tried to regain momentum after getting smacked by the Mets in a game-tying Game 2 win for New York.
In game one of the National League Championship Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets, the Dodgers played near-perfect baseball in a 9-0 win. Then the Mets returned the favor, jumping out to a 6-0 lead in game two and holding on for a 7-3 win.
The two teams met for a pivotal game three on Wednesday night, with a series lead on the line. Los Angeles had the opportunity to retake home field advantage and head into games four and five with their best starters, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Jack Flaherty lined up to pitch.
Providence police stopped Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore early Wednesday during a traffic stop in a neighborhood with “high narcotics usage,” and the situation unfolded unpleasantly for both the police department and Barmore.
Providence PD followed up the encounter hours later with body cam footage showing Barmore resisting the cops’ order after the DT cried “racism” on X.
In the footage, Barmore was seen bickering with the officers and initially refusing orders to roll down his windows.
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby joined some rare company on Wednesday night when he became just the 10th player in NHL history to score 1,600 points.
Crosby went into Wednesday night’s game against the Buffalo Sabres — featuring Bob Dylan’s pal Tage Thompson — at 1,599 career points.
Just past the halfway point of the first period and the Penguins trailing 2-0, Crosby set up the puck for Evgeni Malkin who fired a shot on net. Bryan Rust was right there to pick up the garbage and put the Pens on the board, with Crosby being awarded the secondary assist on the play.
Edelman played all 12 seasons of his NFL career with the Patriots.
