We asked for your views on Newcastle’s win over Brentford on Wednesday.
Here are some of your comments:
Newcastle fans
Matt: Did Sandro Tonali really mean that strike? The late movement of his foot suggests he did – but that’s my heart ruling my head, maybe! On track for Europe again and perhaps a big win against Manchester United.
Paul: Great win but we made hard work of it with either sloppy finishing or great last-ditch defending by Brentford.

Tuesday was another April Fool’s Day, and it brings back memories of a former Washington Redskins great.
It was April 1, 1964, and the Philadelphia Eagles‘ starting quarterback, who had been drafted seven years earlier (43rd overall) out of Duke, had enjoyed a tremendous 1961 season. He led the NFL in passing yards, completions, and passing touchdowns, leading the Eagles to a 10-4 record.
However, the Eagles were losers in 1962 (3-10-1) and 1963 (2-10-2). Eagles’ HC Nick Skorich had led the successful season in 1961 and the next two losing seasons, so he was fired.

Even Everton manager David Moyes considered his captain James Tarkowski “lucky” to stay on the pitch.
Explaining the decision, the Premier League Match Centre said on X: “The referee’s call of yellow card for a reckless foul by Tarkowski was checked by the VAR, with contact on the follow through after Tarkowski had played the ball deemed to be reckless.”
The key word here is “reckless”, which according to the laws of the game merits a yellow card rather than a red.
