An under 14s girls’ football team have been on a “fantastic journey” to reach the national schools cup final, their coach has said.
Northampton School’s Year 9 team will play Surbiton High School, from south London, at the Bet365 Stadium in Stoke on Friday.
The side, based at the school in Moulton, came through eight rounds of matches, including a penalty shootout in the semi-final.
Coach and head of year Callum Lagdon said the girls have had to show “great resilience” to get this far in the tournament.

More players are committing to the LSU Tigers under the tutelage of coach Will Wade, and their most recent addition serves as another international prospect joining the fray. On Wednesday, May 20, college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein confirmed on X/Twitter that Croatian big man Michael Ruzic has committed to the Tigers for the 2026-27 season.
This is now the 10th public commitment to coach Wade’s upcoming roster. Ruzic, as mentioned, is a 7-footer that hails from Croatia.

Frenkie de Jong says that Marcus Rashford deserves to stay at Barcelona after playing his part in the team’s title success.
Rashford has scored 14 times and grabbed 11 assists for Hansi Flick’s side after moving to the club on loan from Manchester United.
Asked if Rashford deserves to stay, De Jong offered up the following response.

“Yes I think so. In the minutes he’s played, he’s given us a lot: goals, assists, attacking runs. He’s a fast player who poses a real threat to opposing defenses.
