The Detroit Lions‘ first OTA of 2026 kicked off on May 27. There are some players with injury concerns coming out of the 2025 season to keep an eye on. I compiled a list of players to watch, along with their OTA activity expectations.

The NFL offseason has entered the voluntary workout phase, with minicamps and training camps soon to follow. The Los Angeles Rams will not only welcome back reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford, but they also added a potential successor under center. With the 13th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Rams selected Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.
The selection of Simpson generated mixed reactions from fans and media members, with some even speculating that there may have been differing opinions within the organization.

Senior attacker Madison Taylor has won the 2026 Tewaaraton award, the most prestigious honor given to an NCAA lacrosse athlete.
The accolade was announced at the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington D.C. on Thursday evening. Taylor becomes the fifth Wildcat to win this award and the first since Izzy Scane did so in 2023 and 2024.
This marks Taylor’s first time receiving this award, capping off a strong final season in purple where she had conference 139 points, 97 goals and produced 42 assists.

The Houston Rockets have had players donning a total of 52 different jersey numbers (and have one not part of any numerical series for Houston assistant coach and general manager Carroll Dawson) since their founding at the start of the 1967-68 season, worn by just under 500 players in the course of Rockets history.

Despite being deep into the offseason, Texas Tech has made waves in the college football world after public statements regarding the Red Raiders’ scheduled Week 1 game against Abilene Christian.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported that Texas Tech head football coach told reporters in a Zoom meeting Thursday that Tech was exploring the possibility of canceling its Week 1 game against ACU and potentially scheduling a Week 1 showdown against the Texas Longhorns for the Red Raiders instead.

College football is imminent, and some of the sport’s rivalries are already bubbling. While his Texas Tech Red Raiders weren’t originally slated to take on in-state Texas this season, coach Joey McGuire now wants a crack at the Longhorns based on a public war-of-words.

Eventually, Houston Texans Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud will be paid.
The only questions now are when, how much and with whom.
Stroud, who is entering his fourth season with the Texans and is two years removed from winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, said following the second day of voluntary OTAs that he feels as if he’s done his part to earn an extension, but that his focus is set on the season and not the new contract.
“I let my agent handle that. If it’s time to do it, then it is,” Stroud said on Thursday. “My job is football.

BOSTON (AP) — Ronald Acuña Jr. hit his fourth career grand slam and Chris Sale struck out eight in five innings against his former team as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Boston Red Sox 10-2 on Thursday.
Acuña cleared the Green Monster after pinch-hitter Mike Yastrzemski — grandson of Red Sox great Carl Yastrzemski — drew a bases-loaded walk to break a 2-all tie in the sixth inning. The five-time All-Star and 2023 NL MVP connected off reliever Greg Weissert for his third home run this season and first since April 24.
