Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur made one of the most puzzling decisions in recent memory during the 2021 NFC Championship.
Many people believe this was the beginning of the end for the Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay.
In case you’ve forgotten – or blocked it out of your memory – the Packers had fourth-and-goal against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from the 8-yard line.
They trailed by eight points with just over two minutes left. Rather than give Rodgers a chance to tie the game, LaFleur sent his field goal team onto the field.

Northwestern and Duke squared off on Friday night in one of the most awful football games I have ever watched in my life.
Both teams made error after error in a match that became more about who wanted to lose more rather than who wanted to win more.
Perhaps I’m bitter because I bet the under – which was a damn lock – and only lost because of some really terrible decision-making at the end of the game.
More on that in a minute, but first the point of this story. Early in the third quarter, a bunny rabbit somehow made its way onto the Northwestern field.

Anthony Richardson’s rookie season was cut short. Can his 2024 season showcase why the Colts took him in the top 5?
Three quarterbacks were taken in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, with wildly different rookie seasons for each. Top overall pick Bryce Young had a disastrous first year with the Carolina Panthers, while second pick C.J. Stroud flourished with the Houston Texans on his way to winning Offensive Rookie of the Year and an AFC Divisional Round appearance.

BYU defensive back Marque Collins pulled off an insane interception Friday night against SMU.
The Cougars upset the Mustangs on the road in Dallas, and the highlight of the game came in the fourth quarter.
The BYU CB jumped a route on a ball thrown by Kevin Jennings and snatched it right out of the air, but it wasn’t the fact he made the interception that was so impressive.
Collins managed to control his body, get his feet down and secure the catch. Check out the awesome play below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@OutKick.com.

The pair of basketball stars have been friends since high school — and now become the first WNBA / NBA player duo to share the cover.
UNCASVILLE, CONNECTICUT — For A’ja Wilson, being the first-ever WNBA cover athlete for NBA2K was already a pretty big deal. But, the honor is even more special because she’s sharing it with a longtime friend: Celtics forward Jayson Tatum. The Las Vegas Aces star befriended the Boston Celtics champion at a USA Basketball camp in high school, and their friendship has continued to blossom throughout the years.

It isn’t always the way it looks and that certainly is true with Saquon Barkley and his stellar debut for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Barkley’s three-touchdown performance, which came wrapped in a 109-yard rushing performance, looked like a statement.
It looked as if he was announcing some sort of newfound dominance with his new team. It might have seemed he was motivated by letting his old team know that it had made a terrible mistake letting him go in the offseason.
But to listen to Barkley after his Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers, 34-29, that’s not how it was at all.

A bold plan for the DNC in key swing states uses college football as a medium for their message.
College football fans at four high-profile games in Week 2 are going to see something very different in the skies over stadiums in key battleground states. The Democratic National Committee will fly planes carrying banners that remind fans of the connection between the Republican presidential ticket and Project 2025, while also making fun of J.D. Vance in Michigan.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are hitting a rough patch at the worst possible time thanks to injuries.
Last night, the team’s All-Star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez excited the game after being hit by a pitch on his left ankle. Immediately, this year’s Home Run Derby champion, whose 28 homers is the second most on the Dodgers this season, went down in pain.
Despite the pitch being “just” an 81-mph slider, Hernandez immediately fell down and struggled to get up as he grabbed his left ankle as the team’s medical staff ran to him.

Thursday night’s Baltimore Ravens – Kansas City Chiefs thriller of a game brought in over 29.8 million viewers, setting a ratings record for an NFL kickoff game.
Despite the game’s start being delayed nearly a half hour due to a nearby lightning storm, football fans flocked to NBC to watch what would be the largest audience of a kickoff game since its inception in 2002, surpassing the 27.6 million that watched the Patriots defeat the Steelers in 2015’s opener.
Yes, that’s right, football is alive and well and remains dominant across the American landscape.
