The door has been wide open for Justin Fields to make his case to be the Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback since training camp opened. It couldn’t have been easier.
And he seems to have fumbled the opportunity.
Literally.
Fields started for the preseason’s first game for the Steelers Friday night against the Houston Texans. He and played with the first-team, as he’s been doing since early in training camp, because Russell Wilson has been slowly rehabilitating from a calf injury.
So there’s been an open door to the starting job for Fields.

Tyreek Hill is about to wake up to a barrage of tweets ripping him after the star Miami Dolphins wide receiver incorrectly called out a teacher for her grammar.
The embarrassing tweet came after Tyreek quote-tweeted a teacher named Mary Crippen who was standing in front of a dry-erase school board and asked her followers if Hill and teammate Jaylen Waddle would combine for over 3,000 yards this season.
“Can @cheetah and @D1__JW combine for 3,000 yards? Class class is going to track and find out. This year it’s all about teamwork,” the teacher tweeted out.

New Zealand’s Lydia Ko is competing in her third Olympics. She won a silver medal in Rio at the 2016 Games and a bronze medal three years ago in Tokyo. Now, she is aiming for Gold at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and has a strong chance of making that happen.
Heading into the final round of play, the Kiwi tied for first place with Switzerland’s Morgane Metraux at 9-under overall.

Deion Sanders, who hasn’t won a game since last October, went OFF on a Denver Post reporter after yesterday’s Colorado practice.
Now, I can’t stand the media. Yes, I know I work in the media, but you know what I mean. Sports media types, at least 95% of ‘em, are insufferable. They’re usually a bunch of fake virtue-signalers who think Kamala Harris will be a good president because she … smiles a lot.
So, I always find it funny when people in sports go after them. And I always like when Deion Sanders is involved in it, because he’s a #content machine.
