Team USA hurdler Freddie Crittenden finished five seconds off the pace in his preliminary heat Sunday. But it was part of a bigger strategy.
Freddie Crittenden entered the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics as one of the hurdlers to watch in the men’s 110-meter hurdles. He placed fourth at the World Championships and his best time this year was the second-fastest in the world. However, after he came out of the blocks Sunday in his first heat at the Summer games, he was certainly off the pace.

There’s nothing quite like seeing athletes truly proud to represent their home countries during the Olympics. That includes American golfer Scottie Scheffler, who couldn’t help but cry as the United States National Anthem played after he captured the gold medal during the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Scheffler put together a sensational final round, shooting a 62 to overtake several players ahead of him – including Spain’s Jon Rahm, who had a four-shot lead over the field at one point during Sunday’s round – to capture his first Olympic medal.

After he finished in Paris, Rory McIlroy discussed golf’s current state and its role at the Olympics.
Even though Rory McIlroy’s watery demise on the par-4 15th hole ultimately sealed his fate, leaving him short of a medal, the Ulsterman still had an “amazing” week in Paris.
He likened this year’s Olympics to the Ryder Cup, McIlroy’s favorite tournament on the planet.

U.S. beach volleyball duo Andy Benesh and Miles Partain will compete in the Round of 16 on Monday. But they’ll have to do it without their coach, Mike Placek — because they decided to fire him in the middle of the Olympics.
The split came after a rough start for Team USA’s top pairing. Partain and Benesh began Pool D play with a loss to Cuba in their opening match on July 27. Then, they had to battle to a 28-26 win in the second set of a 2-0 win over a bad Moroccan side on Tuesday. They got the W, but it wasn’t pretty.

After 10 holes in the final round of the Olympic men’s golf tournament, seemingly only one question remained: who is going to win the silver and bronze medals?
That’s because Jon Rahm had just taken a four-shot lead over the field and appeared poised to cruise to the gold medal. But Scottie Scheffer did what Scottie Scheffler does: play incredible golf down the stretch of a pressure-packed tournament.
And Jon Rahm did … well, usually what Rory McIlroy does (although we’ll get to McIlroy in a moment).
