Three pitchers and two middle infielders who could be in store for big seasons.
Who will be this year’s best breakout players?
As you head into fantasy drafts, it’s fun to think about who has the potential – if they can only take the next step – to truly break out this year. These are players that you could consider taking earlier than their average draft position (ADP) if you believe in their talent; they certainly are values where they currently being drafted.
Last year’s NL Cy Young winner, Sandy Alcantara, made a lot of breakout lists before last season.

This might have been the easiest bucket in NBA history.
The Golden State Warriors got one of the easiest baskets in NBA history Wednesday night in Dallas. It’s a play that has the Mavs protesting the game and it’s a play that we can’t stop laughing at.
In case you missed it, the Mavs thought they had the ball coming out of a timeout… but that wasn’t the case. Instead, the Warriors were given possession under their own basket and they did what you should do when there isn’t a defender even close to the ball – they got an easy two points.
There will be a number of new faces running NFL defenses in 2023. Here’s the rundown.
The NFL’s annual coaching carousel has slowed to a crawl as free agency has begun in earnest and anticipation for the 2023 draft is rapidly building.
That means the coaching staffs of the league’s 32 teams are mostly set for the upcoming season. Naturally, there will be a number of new faces at training camp meetings, including a number of newly minted defensive coordinators.
In a league where change is constant, none of the current defensive coordinators has held his position longer than four years.

It was another night of controversy in the NBA thanks to the officials.
I really love the sport of basketball. There’s nothing like seeing two teams fly around the court and pull off athletic feats most of us regular folks can’t even fathom.
One thing I don’t like about the NBA, in particular, is how often the officials seem to be the center of attention and more under the microscope than the play itself, and Wednesday is just the latest example.
A memorable tournament continues on Thursday.

After a sluggish start to their 2023 F1 season, McLaren is making some changes
In recent weeks, McLaren brushed off notions that the start to their 2023 Formula 1 season was a reason to panic. Lando Norris, speaking prior to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, specifically denied that the team was in “crisis.”
However, recent moves by the team might do little to dispel that notion.
McLaren announced on Thursday some organizational changes within their F1 team, focused on their technical operation.
Chris Curtis apologized on Thursday for the inappropriate comment made on ‘The Greg Hill Show.’
Chris Curtis, a producer of The Greg Hill Show on WEEI-FM in Boston, issued an on-air apology Thursday morning for a racial slur he made against ESPN analyst Mina Kimes.
Curtis came under fire Wednesday after a video surfaced of him using the slur in reference to Kimes on the show when discussing mini liquor bottles, often referred to casually as “nips.” He will also be suspended from the show for nearly a week.
The transfer eligibility rules are changing across college athletics.
The NCAA issued an updated memo to college athletics programs regarding the waiver process for undergraduates who are two-time transfers.
CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein obtained the memo, and tweeted out a copy on Wednesday.
One of this season’s new rule changes seems to be working on the field. There’s just one problem: Players and league officials can’t agree on what to call it.
What do you call the thing that counts down as a pitcher delivers?
“Pitch clock,” says Astros third baseman Alex Bregman.
“Pitch clock,” says Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks.
“Pitch clock,” says Nationals manager Davey Martinez.
“Pitch timer,” says MLB executive vice president Morgan Sword.
New landing spots for Lamar Jackson, DeAndre Hopkins and others should spice up the 2023 fantasy season.
The 2023 NFL offseason has seen more than its share of big moves, as players like Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, David Montgomery, Miles Sanders, Brandin Cooks, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Darren Waller (among others) will be wearing new uniforms. As we get closer to the NFL draft, however, there’s still plenty of potentially huge and fantasy beneficial moves that can be made on the transaction report.
I offered up a wish list of transactions at the start of NFL free agency.
