Although the United States lost Tuesday night’s World Baseball Classic final, American-born Lars Nootbaar went home with a gold medal. The 25-year-old St. Louis Cardinals outfielder played for Team Japan and became an international sensation.
Nootbaar, who played college baseball at USC, was born to Charlie Nootbaar, his American father of Dutch, English, and German descent, and Kumiko Enokida, his Japanese mother. It has always been his dream to represent his mom’s native country on the biggest stage, and the return of the World Baseball Classic in 2023 presented that opportunity.

Sports media personality has harsh words for final at-bat of World Baseball Classic
Chris “Mad Dog” Russo was in vintage form on ESPN’s First Take on Wednesday, bashing the coverage of Shohei Ohtani vs Mike Trout showdown in the final at-bat of the World Baseball Classic.
Russo made it crystal clear he is opposite those who believe the at-bat was “epic” or even remotely worthy of significant fanfare.
“Did you see the headlines today? ‘Epic At-Bat,’ an ‘Incredible Moment.’ Why?”, Russo said.

This week especially, it was easy to do this because there were some unbelievable saves.
Seriously. I don’t know if there’s some kind of astrological phenomenon going on or what. Goalies across the NHL had themselves a week.
That said, we’ll still touch on plenty of offense to look at. We all know that’s what puts butts in seats and attracts all the ladies.
But lets get right to it with a doozy of on Broadway.

Spencer Rattler wants to be remembered as the quarterback of the South Carolina Gamecocks, even though he spent his first three seasons at Oklahoma. As he finishes out his collegiate career and turns his focus toward the NFL, the former five-star quarterback doesn’t want the Sooners to get any credit for his success on the next level.
Spencer Rattler especially doesn’t want Oklahoma fans to claim him as their own. That bridge was burned a long time ago.
Rattler, who joined Lincoln Riley in Norman in 2019, took a redshirt in his first year.
